    Cruise control

I an affirm: the vacuum servos lock throttle position after actuation. That's the best, in my opionion, system to retrofit. Fewer parts to swap and it's a snap to install.

    Opinions on touring enging options...

On the last trip out with my R2500 Suburban, I had some time to think about what's next for that truck. With the 700R4, and the 3.73 rear end sorted, I think next year's big work will be an engine overhaul or replacement. I think by the time I get done with this summer's road trip, I'll be fed...

What have you done to your square lately??

Installed a tach in the 'burb after spending the trip up to Flag wondering what RPM I was actually cruising at compared to the gearing calculations. Had this old Sun kicking around with a crappy bezel, so I stripped it and painted it white.

What have you done to your square lately??

The 700R4 swap in the 'burb will get a good test starting tomorrow: heading up to Prescott and then Flagstaff for a roadtrip test run and weekend of fun. Then, on the 17th my wife and I are off on a 8 state, 3800 mile or so road trip camping vacation.

What have you done to your square lately??

@thatsquareguy that step is great. May have to do something like that myself! Yesterday was Red Truck maintenance: Rear diff fluid and gasket, trans fluid, oil change, Flamethrower coil install, plugs/wires/cap/rotor, timing check.

    Griffin radiator FAIL!

I used to build sandrails with LT and then LS engines... The LS engines are sweet, no doubt about it. Bang for the buck and reliability are on their side in spades.

What have you done to your square lately??

Time to put some miles on the 700R4 swap. Shifting a bit high, but that's better than too low for now. HRPC, it WAS a TH400 in there. Sorry about the insistence before. As soon as I rolled under it again I knew I had been wrong when I insisted it was a TH350 based off the codes! Anyway, the...

What have you done to your square lately??

That's very cool. My trucks are not show trucks, but car shows are always a blast. Especially if there is a swap meet as well...

Nice shots from the show & killer looking squares!

What have you done to your square lately??

Just sold one of my motorcycles, so the 700R4 swap on the Suburban starts Friday!

    Got wood?

Spitballed the measurements, and started shopping for wood. I have the dado blade set up and did some test runs, so I think it'll go smooth. The truck is my DD right now, so it may be a few weeks before I get to disassembly, but I'll definitely take some pics and post up my process through...

What have you done to your square lately??

Yea, that's the plan. Getting the budget together is the tough part right now.

What have you done to your square lately??

Nice. I'm looking to go in the opposite direction with my Suburban once I find a donor 700R4.

What have you done to your square lately??

3.08 back there... It feels like a synchro, as it isn't very smooth upshifting into 2nd when I'm squeezing all I can out of that 305. At the very least it needs a go through after 280k to sort out the leaks. I'll see what there is to see then.

What have you done to your square lately??

Rebuilt the shift pack on my A833 today, including all the shaft bushings. Shifts like buttah now, but still likes to grind downshifting into 2nd above 25mph. I'm going to rebuild that transmission some day... Next up is the bed wood, then suspension bushings, then a posi.

    New Process A833 4speed w/ OD MY6 MM7

Thanks, K. Looks like mine is out of St. Louis, not Flint.

    New Process A833 4speed w/ OD MY6 MM7

Excellent, thanks man! Yea, I saw those, but I'm picky when it comes to bearings and seals. Any experience with those kits?

    New Process A833 4speed w/ OD MY6 MM7

I know this is old, but damn I wonder if mine is one of those builds. I've got a December 1986 1500 SB stepper w/ the A833... How can I find out what plant it came out of? Also, I'm trying to source a good rebuild kit with syncros as well as a full rebuild kit for the shifter bushings... I...

    Got wood?

Great resource, thanks! Definitely some numbers I can use there. I'll be sure to post up pics, dimensions, and measurments here once I start the process.

    Got wood?

THAT is one sweet truck! I don't need one, really, but now I really want a squarebody ramp truck :) Although a wrecker would be fun too... Thanks for that video, man.

    Got wood?

I've done a search, and didn't turn up much, so I'll ask before I start tearing stuff apart: Does anyone have reference dimensions and measurments for shortbed stepside bed wood? Mine is getting pretty well shot in places, and because I'm a cheap bastard and I have the tools, I'm going to...

    FNG from AZ

Thanks, everyone. Lots to think about. The pickup work will start with the diff and work forward once the 'burb is sorted out. Right place at the right time, really. I was on the hunt for about 8 months for the right truck, and passed on two others with manuals because both had the granny...

    FNG from AZ

I reckon that'd be cheaper! 3.73 locker is where the prep is going to start. But a rebuild for the 305 and a couple turbos would net more power for less, and it'd be the same factory block too... Hmmmmm.
