    1987 suburban tbi 350 overheating.

They read pretty much spot on. But it doesn’t seem to have the issue when I’m idling. I’ve been working on semis for the past 6 years, if I had a nickel for every part that was bad out of the box or went bad 6 months down the line. I’d just put my truck in a shop.

Read front of block and intake manifold, temps are reading fine. Do you think it could be the impeller slipping on the water pump?

    1987 suburban tbi 350 overheating.

Hard to do that since it only does it while driving. You’re more then welcome to hang out the window while I drive.

If it did, it was before I got it. And the coolant has been drained countless times and flushed 3 times

    1987 suburban tbi 350 overheating.

The suspicion came from it going up to 220-230 then back down about 20 seconds later. After I flushed and reinstalled a thermostat for the winter it would get up to 210(middle of gauge) and not go any high. Roughly 5k miles without issues. This whole thing has worried me since it wasn’t doing...

    With resistance.

    1987 suburban tbi 350 overheating.

I’m assuming the gauge is fine since it sweeps no issue. The 195 that was in it and the 180 that’s in it now are both Napa brand. It’s all I could get. Sensor for gauge is in head. 195 Tstat would run engine at 210 gauge rock steady before issue developed. 180 Tstat runs ~190, unsure since...

3ish years ago Is there a way to test the pump? (Edited to ask question)

    1987 suburban tbi 350 overheating.

‘87 Suburban with TBI 350. As I drive up the road the temp gauge will climb to ~220-230, then fall back down to thermostat temp. It will do this repeatedly. I had changed the antifreeze and put a 195 thermostat back in it for winter. (About 2 months ago) I had hoped that it was a case of...

    Vent window tab broken

‘87 Suburban The tab that the vent window frame rivets to broke. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement? It looks like that tab is riveted into the door frame part.

Factory 3 point seat belt harness.

Do you have a recommendation on how to clean them? I took them apart and cleaned/lubed them. It helped for about 2 weeks. My seatbelt being messed up doesn’t bother me to much. However the passenger seat being messed up scares me a lot.

Not quite, mine is the style where the lap and shoulders retract together from the same place.

Factory 3 point seat belt harness.

I have an ‘87 suburban with factory 3 point retractable seatbelts. I’m trying to either replace the whole unit or replace the retractor. I have tried to look for replacements but I can only find lap belts and 3 point conversion belts. Both front seats have various issues locking up.

    Truck pulls to the right.

I can check it, but it’s all got less than 20k miles on it. Replaced the entire front suspension and steering.

    Truck pulls to the right.

It might be an idler arm. However, it’s a moog part and it’s got less then 20k on it.

    Truck pulls to the right.

1987 R20 Suburban. What’s causing my braking issue? When ever I hit the brakes the truck pulls to the right. The harder I hit them the harder it pulls. To the point of needing to counter steer with some effort to avoid going in the ditch. Had to “panic” stop in the rain a few days ago, only...

Any restart, even running the truck for less then 30 seconds.

    1987 Suburban Idle Issues

Both, but only on restarts. Starts up fine cold. Even if all I do is run the truck for less then a minute. Sometimes reving it a little helps

No leaks and the spray patter looks good. They’re new ac delco injectors

Took it out of the bracket, put air to it and doesn’t seem to be plugged up either

    1987 Suburban Idle Issues

Well it did a motor humming for a couple minutes, pulled it twice and pushed the plunger in to reset it. Seems to be functional. Would a bad icm or spark control be a culprits? I haven’t done those yet.

Vacuum from egr port is 0, vacuum from air injection port is ~17.

Jumped the pins and turned the key, the iac just hummed and never clicked. Touched the side of it with my hand to make sure it was what I was hearing.
