    Suburban Barn Door Seals

Do the hinge pins ever need replacing like what is so common with the front door? Are there bushings too?

    Jump AC compressor

The AC is not working and I'm trying to track it down and get it up and running again. The compressor clutch is not engaging. I think there's a leak somewhere, and I'm going to address that, but I want to make sure the compressor is working first. I charged the system a bit, but the...

Adding Limited Slip to 14b SF

I did some reading into the trutrac, looks pretty good, but does seem expensive... How much more would a selectable locker (including actuation) end up costing me? If I'm going to spend $540, and it's a couple hundred more then I might go with a true locking diff, but this looks like a pretty...

Adding Limited Slip to 14b SF

Is that Eaton Trutrac considered an automatic locker? (I'm stlll learning about lockers and such) You bring up a good point about clutch wear, so I will be looking for something without clutch packs as a wear item.

88 suburban time to upgrade the sound, looking for ideas

For the q logic's do you mean the color didn't match? Cuz I had that problem too, thinking about spraying them. I have tan interior, and the q logic are too dark. For the 6.5" are you able to fit speaker grills? Which Rockford sub is that? And where are you going to put it? Oh, and how did...

Suburban guys: rear cargo area bed mat ideas?

Is the bed area behind the 2nd row the same size as a 73-87 pickup bed? I measured and got something like 6' by 4' (between wells)

88 suburban time to upgrade the sound, looking for ideas

Make sure you look up the mounting measurements for the 4"-ers you plan on getting and measure to make sure they'll fit. I did with mine and they should just fit without modification. I plan on running a line out converter which takes the speaker-level signal and converts it to line-level...

Adding Limited Slip to 14b SF

My rear end needs a rebuild bad. At least the pinion bearing, not sure about the gears if they need to be replaced. Anyway, this is one of the few jobs I have decided to leave to the professionals. It doesn't have a very common gear ratio (3.42, 14b sf, open) so I have been having trouble...

    Suburban Barn Door Seals

https://youtu.be/VMHsTldeCgM I'm slowly tracking down all the noises and rattles of this thing, and one of the loudest is from these rear doors. I'm not sure if it's because the weatherstripping is so worn down, or if there's something else I can adjust, but the doors rattle... a lot....

    Suburban Barn Door Seals

I looked everywhere for the precision weatherstrip, but it's sold out. Emailed precision and they said it won't be available for a few months because the product is being re-tooled?? Anyway, I still need the weatherstripping now, and junkyard ones all look worn out, so I bought a pair from...

    What is this sealer stuff?

Should I primer first? Or apply seam seal first, then primer and paint over that?

Suburban guys: rear cargo area bed mat ideas?

I think I'll be getting that tractor supply cut-to-fit mat. Hopefully I'll find a rear heater that I'm looking for, so the weathertech won't fit, I'll need to cut something custom.

Suburban guys: rear cargo area bed mat ideas?

Is that weathertech mat specifically made for the squarebody suburbans? And, is it designed for the whole cargo area without 3rd row seat? Or just behind the 3rd row? It's $130 for the weathertech one, and the universal fit bed mats I've been looking at are not that much less than that - around...

    Rear heat pictures please

How rare were the factory-installed burb heaters? I have been looking for a while in junkyards, seen about 20 or so 73-91 burbs and none had the rear heater, and this is in colorado/wyoming, so heater-appropriate (one did have an aftermarket unit that looked cool but...) I have everything...

Suburban guys: rear cargo area bed mat ideas?

People with burbs: anybody have a good suggestion for a rear cargo area bed liner/mat that they use? When I have the third row seat out and really load up the back area for hauling stuff, I would like to have something durable to protect the carpet. I see that weathertech makes a rear cargo...

    Which tie rod end?

I checked and I have the 7/8" set-up without the adjusting sleeve. The 1" with a new tie rod (one piece with the tie rod end built-in on one side) is not that much more $. Is it worth the upgrade/will it fit?

    What is this sealer stuff?

Thanks for the info, here's my plan: 1) chemically strip paint (doing the whole bed) 2) remove old seam sealer (I've read a combination of wire brush, heat, and a scrapper will work to do this). 3) wire brush down to clean metal 4) weld in new metal to cover holes 4) spray can of self-etching...

What does this vacuum actuator do?

Any way to access those drain holes? Do they ever clog up?

What does this vacuum actuator do?

At least I think this is called a vacuum actuator, I found this in the cowl area while cleaning it out because of this: Here is the thing in question: Also, where does water drain out of this area when it rains?

    What is this sealer stuff?

Between body panels (such as weal well to floorboard) there is this sealer/bondo-like stuff. How do I go about repairing this and these holes? This looks like it could be factory, but I'm not sure - it could just be a hack rust repair job. Spare tire slot: Wheel wells to floorboard:

    Which tie rod end?

    I see 2 sizes on parts websites for the tie rod ends for my '87 3/4 ton V20. Right Outer: - 4.12" length, 1" x 18 threads - 4.81" length, 7/8" x 18 threads Left Outer: - 9.6 in length, 7/8 x 18 threads - 52.25"??? and 1" x 18 threads (I'll have to go check again, but pretty sure mine...

    Broken Fuel Module?

Problem solved, fuel module is working again. I found a blown 20A fuse called: "Gage/Idle" Replaced that and it works, I guess that's where the module gets its power from. I checked ECM/IGN fuse, that was fine.

88 suburban time to upgrade the sound, looking for ideas

Look, let me just say that the retrosound is not terrible, I just thought for the price it should have been better. It is a quick and easy way to update your sound, while keeping it stockish. But I can get a top-of-the-line headunit for less than that, so that's what I'm going to do. I...

88 suburban time to upgrade the sound, looking for ideas

I'm in a similar situation, let me tell you what I know and have experienced. On the retrosound model 2: - I have the retrosound in another vehicle and was pretty disappointed. It's great because it fits with the style, looks stock, and you don't have to cut up your dash just to put a...

    Broken Fuel Module?

False alarm on the long cranking, it was just a weird coincidence that I noticed the fuel pump stopped and then it taking longer than usual for a few start ups back-to-back when I was out running errands. It starts up just fine now that I've taken it out a few times. But fuel module is still not...
