    73 to 80 use different body mounts than 81 to 87 but as long as you use the correct mounts for the year of the frame any cab 73 to 87 will bolt on. Bumper mounting is different

    there is not a single hole on the front that will line up. I just done the opposite. the rear spring hangers are taller on a 4x4 so they will need changed your 12 bolt is easy just put 2 wheel drive 5 lug axle shafts in it from a 12 bolt look in the under construction forum for my 84 crew...

    Get a Lincoln 145 I think is what's available now I have a 135 and have done a lot of things with it. It is fair priced and a good welder. But definitely get the gas bottle way better welds flux core is garbage it works but harder to weld sheet metal and ugly. Splatters way more as well...

    I am also doing it to a 2 wheel drive crew cab now I am converting it to a 4X4 and have figured out suburban spring hangers work well for 1 tons. 1tons have a taller frame where the spring mount goes so the mount from a 1/2 or 3/4 truck would hang down lower. This is kinda hard to explain...

    You can change the spring hangers and make it a bolt in deal. I done it on my 90 crew cab you can see pics and info in my 90 crew cab short bed build in the under construction forum page 18 or 19 somewhere.

    I would not try to do it with new parts and expect it to last forever. but for a short term fix to get you by it should work. if its running with no major noises or vibrations it should last for awhile.
