    Throttle cable way too long

I guess I should have made that clearer. I forgot about 4 speed automatics. 4 speed manual. Sm465

    Throttle cable way too long

Yes, an AVS2, with Sm-465 (4 speed manual) tranny so no kickdown worries. Yeah I'm gonna scout around in Texas while I'm there and see if I can find a factory one on a wreck in good shape. THANKS !

    Throttle cable way too long

I really don't feel like spending a deuce on some Billet setup. It's JUST a cable !

    Throttle cable way too long

Got the same problem with mine. 800cfm Edelbrock. No kickdown. 4 speed. Be nice to get the factory one, but I think I'll have to engineer one and jury rig it.

    Rear axle seal questions.

How difficult is it to replace pinion seal on 14bolt FF? I've watched a few you tube videos but they seem to be 'hack jobs'. It's not a really bad leak or weep but it does need to be addressed. Thanks

Biggest street slicks that will tuck in on a 75K20 with 14 bolt full float drum brakes

I've seen a couple of very nice trucks on here that have some massive rear tires. Not mudders or offroad. With factory height on my 75K20 what are the WIDEST street slicks I can put on this truck? I have a set of winters up here in BC A good regular set for cruising in summer But I need to...

Fuel Gauge Tank Selector switch and valve

I had nothing but problems when I first got my K20 dual tank. Bad wiring was first- wires everywhere. Bad ground. Finally said to hell with it and did two new tanks, two new sending units and all new wiring. Kaching$. but she works now

Ruh roh Raggy! I hear you knocking…

USUALLY............if its a ticking sound - it's valve train. Like a bad lifter, broken push rod, that happened to me once. But a loud knocking noise sounds like a rod. Hard to tell without really hearing it, but sorry you got problems

    CARBURETOR DATED

Had very good luck with the AVS series carbs. That edelbrock intake is perfect. (always carry a spare HEI control module) You'll be glad you did. How's your electric choke working out for you?

    Gas smell

Wouldn't hurt to put an inline fuel filter along with a fuel pressure gauge. 5-6 psi is around where you wanna be with a stock small block

    Gas smell

Sounds like a bad casting on the fuel pump. When I ran mechanical fuel pumps, I ALWAYS carried a spare in the box, as well as a control module for my HEI. Saved me a couple of times. Oh and to get the rod to stay up in the hole when you put a new pump on......get some gear lube or some lube...

    Many many 75's

You'll have to excuse my accent. Spent 30 years in Texas. LOVED IT. Then I came up with this hair brain idea to go live in the mountains. If you like a lot of snow, it's great. But stupid expensive. Might be time for a trip back down (even if it is 2500 miles). And yeah, I did the dual...

This is an awesome site. Glad I found it.

A lot of guys out there with A LOT of knowledge. If I can just figure out how to navigate around in this site..........it'll be great. This is what happens when ya get old fellers. Can't even program a VCR anymore. Oh wait. There's no more vcrs either. Not sure what is in worse shape. My...

    Gas hog

I agree that a brand new PROPERLY tuned quadrajet is a good carb. IF....................you don't put your foot into it. The smaller primaries help for fuel economy. But over time, you'll be replacing the bushings in the shaft. (thats the up and down idle). I've rebuilt probably 50 of them and...

    Gas hog

I'd check the fuel tanks for rusty pin hole leaks FIRST. Then all the fuel lines that go from tank(s) to front. After having a lot of CK's.........their small block mileage is 10 mpg. You can get about 15 mpgs 'tuned right'. Loaded, empty, driven slow, or hammer down. Stick to the Edelbrock...

Building a new motor for my 79 C10 - would love some advice!

A lot of smart guys out there, that have been there and done that. You have endless options. Personally, I have built ground up engines and bought crate engines. I would buy a crate engine and be done with it. Building an engine seems to be an endless money pit. Just my 2 cents. Oh...

I would really like a turbo 400 in my truck

My 2 cents is to build the TH400 bulletproof and add a gear vendor. Or you can get a 700R4 that's built to handle the torque as well. - a cheaper option.
