    Stranded… could use some ideas.

Question, is the sending unit inside the tank a solid line? Is there anything inside it that could wear out and collapse or is it a simple solid tube with a sock on it? Also, the sock on the end of the pickup tube is a mesh right? Seems impossible for it to somehow seal up enough to stop up the...

    Stranded… could use some ideas.

So a quick update. Put the electric pump on, replaced the lines on top of the tank, blew out everything… got about a block and again, no fuel, dead in the middle of the street. I know it was getting no fuel because I disconnected the fuel line at the carb and turned on the key. The pump was...

Pretty interesting… after dropping the tank and confirming all is pristine inside the tank, replaced all the rubber hoses and pressurized the line; held pressure as it should. Decided though to upgrade to an electric fuel pump but leave the original system in place as a backup if I ever need it...

Dropped the tank… no trash :-(… really clean in there… so has to be a leak between the tank and the pump, OR it has all of a sudden started vapor locking…

Runs great off the gas can sitting in the floorboard. so likely the pickup is simply stopped up with trash or would you suspect something else?

Thanks for the help! I dropped the tank on my ‘71 and it sucked… This ‘75 has hitch-brackets built around the tank, not sure yet what it’s going to take to get that all off first. Here are two pics, one being a kick in the huevos…:)

yes, North Texas to Colorado Springs, however, I actually picked up this basket case in Denver last summer… so it’s ‘from here’ so to speak. I’m dreading dropping that tank in the street… any tips or tricks?

Absolutely, just not sure where that is in Colorado Springs:-)…

    Stranded… could use some ideas.

I suspect this is the problem. Tomorrow morning (it’s almost 10 pm here) I’m going to pull the tank line off the pump and run a new line into a 5 gallon gas can and see how it runs. My guess is it will run fine, which will isolate the line to the tank and the tank itself. I hate to have to drop...

No offense at all. It started ‘stumbling’ with about 2/3rs of the tank full… but did seem to get worse as the level dropped.

I was hoping for the same solution… changed the fuel pump in the part store parking lot… unfortunately, no change :-(

Could it be the line inside the tank? I ask because it seemed to get worse as I burned more gas… Now that it has about a 1/4 of a tank, it won’t run at all.

No Cat… no change when removing the gas cap

    Stranded… could use some ideas.

Drove from Dallas to Raton NM (615 miles) with no issues. Turned towards Raton and the engine ‘stumbled’… then ran fine. Then it started stumbling with every hill… ran fine on flat ground… then outside of Pueblo CO it died. It only seems to stumble ‘under load’… Temp never over 205 or so...

Vibration sitting at a traffic light

May not matter, but the flywheel is new - put it in when I put in the new clutch/tranny. I have another thread here concerning my harmonic balancer rubbing the cross member. Multiple folks suggested new motor mounts... which fixed the issue... but I guess it rubbing the cross member before...

Vibration sitting at a traffic light

I'll test this at the next stop light with the clutch in... and also in neutral with the clutch out.... That should rule out any clutch issues...

Vibration sitting at a traffic light

So wanted to run this by you all.... Engine runs smooth at all RPM's under load (driving...)... Sitting at a traffic light though, it seem to have an idle vibration; - can see my steering wheel shake and feel it... up to about 1500 RPM... really any higher RPM and its smooths out.... Again...

Temp gauge posts? Which is which?

I've tested/used 3 different gauges... one brand new from LMC... so it has to be something else. The next thing I'm going to try is to double-check the sending unit... it's new too.... but maybe they gave me the 'idiot' light version of the sending unit... maybe it doesn't provide what an actual...

Anybody ever have a sticky throttle?

Update: I ordered a new throttle cable, installed it tonight and no more sticky throttle! So even though the cable ‘felt’ smooth when disconnected from the carb, putting in a new cable actually solved the sticky throttle cable.

Anybody ever have a sticky throttle?

yes... Seems to feel sticky throughout the range of the peddle I need to re-test this... but I don't remember it feeling super sticky... Disconnected, pulling and pushing the cable from under the hood... it seems to move smoothly.... Best place to buy a new cable?

Temp gauge posts? Which is which?

Just wanted to give some feedback... I was not able to make a new temp gauge work with direct wiring it... It seems it should be really simple... 12+, ground and temp sensor.... I tested the temp sensor against the one I have in my '71... and against the temp sensor that came in an aftermarket...

Anybody ever have a sticky throttle?

As the subject says, anyone have a sticky throttle, that is not the throttle cable? When I disconnect the cable from the carb, the throttle cable moves the gas pedal smooth as silk… but when driving, the throttle feels a bit sticky…? Any thoughts much appreciated!

    picked up my first.

How did you come across this? Any history on it that you know of? Pretty rare to find one this clean.
