Fuel tank sending unit - 3 port or 4 port?

I some of you know, I had vapor lock issues on my trip to the mountains last summer. I'm add a return line (so new fuel pump and sending unit) and have 2 questions: 1. Can I use rubber fuel line for the return - or must it be steel? 2. One option on a sending unit is from Oreilly's; but it is a...

Oil pressure question… or two questions

@AuroraGirl Am I understanding that your oil pressure gauge fluctuates very little between idle and normal driving RPM? I’ve never had a truck like this where there seems to be little oil pressure difference between idle and normal operating RPM… seems odd which makes me think something is wrong.

    Vacuum line into the firewall?

My guess is this will be an easy question for you all. On my 85’ K20, there is a very small diameter line the connects on one end into the larger vacuum line that runs into the vacuum reservoir, the other end runs into the firewall and under the dash somewhere. What is this line for? And for...

    Speedometer question

What would cause the speedometer to only start working at say 30 or so.. and jump around and at 60 mph, it only shows 45 or 50? Is it most likely: 1. the greased up super dirty speedometer cable 2. something in the transfer case 3. the gauge? Thoughts?

Oil pressure question… or two questions

As mentioned previously. I bought an 85’ K20 for my daughter to be her daily driver. Engine looks like to be a GM crate motor. The guy I bought it from said he just changed the oil… used 10W 40. However the intake, sides of the motor, bottom…everything was so covered in grime, oil and Oklahoma...

Question on tire size for an '85 K20...

Purchased an '85 K20... my daughter wants it to be her daily... all original.. needs some work of course. Two questions: 1. Do these trucks benefit from a leaf-spring upgrade in the front to level the stance? The 'natural' stance of these trucks seems to be 'high' in the rear - I'm assuming...

82 K10 Gauge Issues, Dual Tank Question

@t44e6 I am by no means a wiring expert… just a novice at best. As far as the volt meter goes, I think I wired mine directly into a keyed ‘hot’ wire… which should give you the current state of the battery/alternator at all times. The gauge simply takes a 12 volt input. For my oil pressure...

    Engine cleanup???

As I mentioned in an earlier post.. I picked up a 1985 K20 as a daily driver for my daughter. The intake and below the manifolds are really really gunked up with oil and dirt and more oil and dirt. Any thoughts of the best way to clean out all the intake crevasses and the 1/2” thick farm dirt...

1975 Blazer - Sourcing the long tie rod?

I do have a separate question though… Is the stock tie rod the 1-18 thread? Or the 7/8-18 thread? I’m assuming that this is the thickness of the tie rod plus the thread count…? What is stock?

1975 Blazer - Sourcing the long tie rod?

Thanks for the help, I guess I’m getting old… Not sure how, after all the work I did, but I totally forgot that I rebuilt and upgraded my axles to 8 lug 2500 axles out of a salvage yard.. but was still searching for the stock tie rods for a 75’… duh…

1985 K20 Temp sending unit location?

I just picked up this beauty for my daughter yesterday (see pic). All original except for what looks like a GM crate motor. No working temp gauge (had to buy a hand-held temp gun to check running temp)… Looking at the motor, it looks like the sending unit is maybe on the top of the thermostat...

    Stranded… could use some ideas.

I wanted to return to this thread and source the appropriate 'return' fuel pump and 'return' sending unit to get this upgrade done before it gets hot. Thoughts on the appropriate year model parts (fuel pump and sending unit) I need to look for?

Any upgrade 'hacks' to the stock heater blower fan?

Its cold today in Texas.. 22 degrees at noon. My old 75' Blazer does not yet have any door soundproofing (insulation) or floor soundproofing/carpet... lots of windows and its a fairly large space to heat... Anyone know of any update 'hacks' to the stock blower fan - to push more air? Heated...

    Salvage yard doors - electric

The basket-case Blazer I picked up last year came with two fairly straight replacement doors. The issue is the previous owner planned to convert the Blazer to electric windows so those are the doors he sourced. I need to know, to which wire in the door harness do I run 12 volts, which wire I...
