    Your gauge is bad then. There are 2 types of sending units. Idiot light just sends a signal to the hot light when temp gets above 220. Gauge type sends different resistance to guage..so you get an actual reading. If a second aftermarket gauge works but the other doesn't..the gauge is bad.

    Turn this into a positive. Invest in a tremec overdrive transmission. Shouldn't take long to recoup cost at $3 per gallon.

    Ethanol fuel doesn't last long. I have 10 vehicles that rarely get started. Try not to leave fuel in them for this reason. Add fresh fuel when I need a joy ride.

    My favorite is actually Mobil one..made from a pure gas in a. Lab. Can't afford it though. If it's good enough for the space shuttle..its Good enough for me! Most synthetics are actually highly refined conventional oil!

    73-77 was the last great years for GM. The bean counters ruined the company after that. The earlier cars and trucks had real engineering. The later computer aided designs suck. Everyone prefers the earlier offerings..especially 68-72.

    What kind of hoist lifts a big block and a transmission? I always install the engine separately. I always use new mounts and install new springs. Any other items that can be done easier with engine removed..do it now.
