Primary fuel filter bleed - diesel 6.2

Asking because there's post about people pressurizing their fuel tanks, vapour locking their injection pumps, the end of days. Like, how? It's a fuel filter between thr lift pump and injection pump, with a vent. Anyways, had me second guessing myself so Im reaching out to the community to see

Primary fuel filter bleed - diesel 6.2

Oh yes definitely closing the vent valve while it's still running. I'm confused what difference would having an electric vs mechanical pump actually be? If there is a vent, the fuel will displace the air through said vent until fuel squirts out, I then close the vent, and the pump carries on...

Primary fuel filter bleed - diesel 6.2

Quick question folks 6.2 1982 suburban k20 Got a new water separator/filter Wix 33123 I dunno when it's been changed last, but I got the part so I'm gonna change it and have peace of mind. There's no water in fuel light, it doesn't struggle to start or anything, but i havent changed it since...

Gauge lights and rear running lights kaput

Sorry turbo4whl and Matt. Was at work, work on ships and wifi is pretty bad. So I ended up finding a picture of a gm fuse box and replicated the picture. And it worked. I dont know what I did to make it work sadly, I just copied and pasted what i saw in the picture to my fuse block and tried it...

Gauge lights and rear running lights kaput

1982 suburban k20 6.2 diesel. So I'm not original owner, and the previous owner chopped up the wiring. I was tracing something and the wire was 4 different colors by the time it made it into the wiring harness. I was tryna get my radio to work, cleaning grounds tracing wires, doesn't work...

Glow plug relay? Or controller? Short cycle

So I got my gf to turn the key to cycle the GPs while I had the multimeter on the relay terminals. Dropped to around 0.35v I believe that's a pass. So thay pretty well leaves the controller. Or the temp sensor, if I ****** up the bypass test.

Glow plug relay? Or controller? Short cycle

Will do that Had to fix the water heater yesterday, cold showers are no fun. Finally found the right terminology for meniscus though, I kept saying blinking. Its relay chatter. Thought it was weird that almost nobody on all the internet didn't have the same problem. Dieselhub.com says that...

Glow plug relay? Or controller? Short cycle

They were short cycling in a nblinking pattern even with the engine on I tried to bypass the connector tonthe temperature sensor by unplugging the connector and putting a wire between the 2 "input" wire to the connector. Same issue. I believe that rules out the temperature sensor, assuming I...

Glow plug relay? Or controller? Short cycle

Bit of an update. Batteries were toast. Got new ones, starting problem is resolved. However the glow plugs still "blink" on and off. However, seems to be less fast. Key on, lift pump and GPs on (10 or so seconds, then off) then blinking starts like insaid, seems to be less fast. This was the...

Glow plug relay? Or controller? Short cycle

@Craig Nedrow Cheers man, downloaded. Gonna read that and see what they say. Hopefully that works and I only need to replace the temperature sensor instead of parts that may still be good!

Glow plug relay? Or controller? Short cycle

That's the one I got from the website entering the year, make n model etc.... The controller "works" yes, but not well, so it could be related to the temperature sensor? I always thought the GPs cycle as part of the ignition process. Then again, if I stop and get fuel, and start it up. There is...

Glow plug relay? Or controller? Short cycle

Yes 2 batteries! I got snow here so I haven't separated them yet. But right off the bat I got 11.5v 11.6v on 12v batteries. Already that's not great. Yeah I'm gonna get 2 new ones. Way I see it replacing 1 of 2 batteries is like doing one of your forward brakes. Do both lol. I found a Haynes...

Glow plug relay? Or controller? Short cycle

Tired battery could be an issue. Interestingly the voltage gauge is one of the few that work on the vehicle. And i do believe I have a multimeter kicking around somewhere. That's usually the extent of my electrical trouble shooting. Clean grounds and check battery with the meter. You think it's...

Glow plug relay? Or controller? Short cycle

That makes sense, about the ameprsge draw and what woukd be the cause of the slippage. I should clarify and mention that yesterday when I attempted the start, the GPs cycled normally, and after that starter noise, I turned the key back off and back to on again and that's where the relay...

Hey guys n gals, 1982 k20 suburban 6.2 diesel automatic trans. Th400 with overdrive. I've made this a bit of a long post because i crammed it with history and details, and questions, figured that would me get clearer answers than Glow plugs no work, help. So the glow plugs give me a hard...

    License plate light bulb/assembly

Lmc is definitely a vault when it comes to original stuff, that and rock auto obviously. I dont care about keeping it original. I'll sniff around to see if something matches the bolt pattern, and electrical set up as is. Thanks for the tips guys!

    License plate light bulb/assembly

That looks like them, granted mine are showing their age but thank you! Appreciate it because all the aftermarket stuff is 2 wires and like I said, I don't feel like rewiring, I'd like to put back in there what I took out! Cheers!

    License plate light bulb/assembly

Hey everyone, Hope youre all doing well. So, license plate bulbs. I had a look at this and saw that: 1. It wasn't connected 2. The bulb is probably original to the vehicle (1982) and there out. 3. Don't have much history about the vehicle so I dunno if it was submerged at all. I traced back to...

Holy shit, Yeah I wish I could do that. just need a place to work out of, tired of doing stuff in my driveway. When my garage is put up i'll be very happy and can really tackle the stuff I wont need to worry about weather moving in. Sounds a lot like what they do on that show vegas rat rods...

Hahaha, yes short comings. No i agree with you. I was more replying to the guy who commented earlier. I have no issue with diesels, I work on ships, I know how much power is needed to break ice. And no, rolling coal is about the dumbest thing I've seen. As far as 4bt, I'd consider it ifnit were...

Holy crap, I didnt get my email notifications for these replies, sorry folks. waterpirate: I would love to see the bug on jeep! wow. And yeah, when the other mentioned it, it was food for thought, and i googled and wheel bases came close, and none really matched, I would rather not try and...

Hey guys, So I jumped on the cummins bandwagon and starting looking into what I'd need for a swap. turns out its a lot. Things I hadn't even thought of! Anyhow, someone mentioned I'd need a donor truck etc... Then when the comments piled up and I saw how much work it is, which is fine, its a...
