    Rear diff weirdness

You mean the backlash? So I'd have it in jackstands doff cover off and wiggle it around and check the play with a dial gauge? Wouldn't that just bang in when I engage forward or reverse, after theyre meshed in, I wouldn't be able to hear the clunking... theoretically. I dunno. I need to be a...

    Rear diff weirdness

Alright, I dodnt really notice anything under there. Bjtnthen again I wasn't looking for it either. Just a general all purpose grease or is there a specific one hat is better or recommended?

    Rear diff weirdness

What prompted the diff oil change was, at low speed when reversing, there is a knocking, kinda like with hot brake discs on an old car in stop n go traffic on a hot day just a bit louder. I can't really explain how else it sounds. It's not the trans. It sounds like it comes from the rear end...

    Rear diff weirdness

Awesome good tip, i saw that one on a YouTube video. Never heard any mention of a vent line when I was watching how to videos, it makes sense that there is one. So, are vent lines a thing of the past, built into diffs differently? Just find it strange with all the home mechanic youtube videos...

    Rear diff weirdness

I thought I saw a 3/8 drive plug and then saw that line with the vent. So tomorrow I should fill through there and not through the vent, that 3/8" drive plug is my fill as well as tell tale for when it's full, correct?

    Rear diff weirdness

Axle vent, that's what I thought, so that plastic tip then is like a screen prevent dirt n crap getting in and just breathe to equalize to atmospheric pressure as the fluid moves around... a.k.a a vent. Lol ok cool good to know

    Rear diff weirdness

Hey guys, K20 1982 3/4 ton 6.2 v8 diesel Decided to change oil in diffs today. Only had time to do rear. Despite being careful the gasket tore and jt leaked. So silicone and now she's drying up. Onto the question... my rear diffs fill plug, it has a narrow 1/4 " diameter tube about 2 inches...

    4x4 doesnt work

@ bucket Your lean was correct. Sorry fornthe late reply. I work away every other months. I got back and tried it. And she bite in and off we went. They're not young trucks. The handle felt chunkier when moving it this time around

    4x4 doesnt work

I understood some of those references lol. Yes. The blower is blowing on high all the time. Cold in Québec! Lol. And i thought of that. But wouldn't that fall under "normal vehicle operation?" I mean I'm using stock blower with stock alternator not asking it to do anything it wasn't built to...

    4x4 doesnt work

On a completely unrelated side note... My belt is really really annoying. The tension feels good I mean I'm sure there's a thread about how to properly check belt tension. And there's a formula. Anyways. It used to squeal when running when my glow plugs woukd kick on, and stop when they click...

    4x4 doesnt work

True. Linkage would be first thing... I'm at work now, won't get to look at it again till later in January. When the metal sticks to your hand just touching lol.

    4x4 doesnt work

I like the curb idea the best. Or I'll ask the Mrs. To check out the front drive shaft. Running it in jack stands always scared me. Maybe I watched too much final destination, but I always picture it falling off and driving into the neighbour's house and killing me in the process lol

    4x4 doesnt work

Jack stands is annidea. Too cold is a possibility. Coz when I ditched it. I was coming back from a 40ish mins drive. And when I tried later on it was just to move it to the other end of the driveway to run the snowblower.... it wasn't that long after the drive, however it was cold as hell...

    4x4 doesnt work

1982 k20 6 2 diesel suburban. Got hammered by snow today, and yesterday Fell into a ditch, went 4 hi and rocked it out. The 4wd light on the dash doesn't come on. But geez it must've been in 4x4 no way I would've gotten out of there in 2 hi. Parked up. Went to move it again to clear some...

    Exhaust opinions and discussion

Oh I'm sure thats the case. The muffler itself looks pretty nasty! I like the idea of a single exhaust pipe for the engine to get rid of that tss tss tss sound at idle. Again this certainly isn't a "need", but more of a "want". The turndowns sound like an option though

Wow. That's very clean! Tu lentrepose dans un garage lhivers? Yeah 2.5 is what I'm thinking. Do you know if I'll get pulled over in quebec for straight piping? Noise regulations? Coz the harleys that drive by are insanely loud. Same with a few classic cars I see drive by now that summers here...

    Exhaust opinions and discussion

I 100% agree. Like I said, I don't want a stack like the titanic had. Its ridiculous. Of anything it'll hinder performance. I'm already pretty sure that 2 2.5 is the max I'll go. At this point I'm wondering snout muffler deletes and straight piping. Ues, turbo engines move far more air and do...

I'm curious how much HP, if any, straight piping would do, or an after market muffler with less restriction would add. Cheap HP is found in I take and exhaust before you go into injector, fuel pump, timing etc... Also, I'm kinda liking the sound it's making, even if the muffler is still there.

Primary fuel filter bleed - diesel 6.2

Thanks Ben, I ended looking it up after, and felt like an idiot for asking. I, for some reason, thought it was a type of pump, not what drive pump. Geez those must be some rough starts in the winter with a mechanical pump. And that also why my Haynes manual was talking about doing that, I was...

Heu guys 1982 6.2 diesel k20 suburban. I just posted about a fuel filter, but that issues been resolved. The stock exhaust on the v8 diesels comes out the headers, down pipe, into mufflers, out the other side makes that big bend upside U over the axle, then piped out behind each rear wheel...

Primary fuel filter bleed - diesel 6.2

"My theory" Hahaha, you know what nice mean. I just wasn't sure anymore. I've argued with people who fill their oil filters before install. Insay you don't have to and they look at me like I have 5 heads. And there's 2 schools of thought with fuel filters toi, fill don't fill. Anyways m thanks...

Primary fuel filter bleed - diesel 6.2

Yes it does, I hear it running while the glow plugs are cycling, so should be good tongo. Yeah if I had a jerry can of diesel I wouldn't be asking myself the question. Jist gas for the lawnmower and snowblower. Don't think I'll put that in the filter lol. Ok so you guys are confirming my...
