    Rim compatibility

They’re out there but really $$$ expensive… especially the 8 lug versions. https://www.uswheel.com/wheel/16271/us%2Dwheel%2Drat%2Drod%2Dseries%2D651%2D8%2Dlug/?finishID=405

Three hours away for me, I’ll definitely try to make it.

    Cab leaking

In the bottom corner of the windshield channel on each side there is a small drain hole, it’s under the gasket. If this hole is blocked with debris or sealants the water will back up and get in between the two pieces of the windshield flange.

    Used two post

You really want a footer under those posts. They usually are 3/4” diameter concrete anchors, the length would be for the thickness of the concrete. Big box stores may have those, not sure.

    Rear disc conversion

I looked into it when I began my rebuild on my K20… In my opinion that conversion is a lot of money and effort for very little return

    Rim compatibility

I just like to explore all my options… before I screw something up. :) These are available from a couple of different manufacturers in a couple of different sizes & styles. 17s just made way more sense to me as my late model truck uses them.

No, it was gone as soon as it was listed.

    Rim compatibility

I ditched the 16s for 17s, I am going to use one of the 16s for a spare.

    Speedometer cable extension???

I’ll be looking for one also, as I made the same type of change. These folks look promising https://mrspeedometer.com/products/gm-speedometer-cable

Odd “knocking” noise at high RPM while WOT

A vacuum gauge can be helpful if you’re not sure about the timing also.

Little wire cut from bulk head what did it go to? Looks to have white stripe with it but can’t tell other color?

These are the type of terminals that were used in the ‘70s fuse boxes, they available from several places. I’m not certain if yours uses the same.

Replacing front brake lines - remove proportioning valve?

There are different sizes/styles of vise grips… When you get ready to put it back together some Anti-Sieze on the threads of the fittings will prevent it from happening again.

    Correct source for ac vacuum

Yep, you can get those fittings in a couple of different configurations. I just installed one to supply the brake booster and transmission vacuum.

Can you believe this???!!! TC/NP208 Adapter/700R4 trans crossmember mounting/question?

The crossmember bolts flat to the bottom of the frame, there should be some spacers on the TOP of the frame for the proper length bolts.. don’t sweat that though if you don’t have them. The third pic shows the proper adapter mounts, you have the rubber portions on the bottom also correct? Leave...

    Dana 44 front axle issues

Yes, there’s probably differences between the two, I’m definitely not schooled in that area. I used Eaton 912A557, it required a bearing with a larger inside diameter. Let us know how it performs when you get it in, my truck is still months away from being mobile.

    Dana 44 front axle issues

I installed a TruTrac in my front 10 bolt, haven’t had a chance to try it yet but they get great reviews. If you’re going with the TruTrac it uses different size carrier bearings than the original GM carrier.

    Steering shaft

Can’t you take the column loose inside the truck and pull it back enough to get clearance?

    Dana 44 front axle issues

Time to look into a new or used carrier.

Prebent brake lines for a 87 R30 long bed regular cab?

Are you sure they’re different between the two? I’m not certain but the dually set might work on a single rear also. Call Inline Tube, there’s a reason they don’t list it

    Stumped on oil leak

His profile says 1985 K30, so let’s assume that’s what he’s working on.. I’d definitely look at the PCV system, it’s not complicated, air in one valve cover, air out the other through the PCV valve. Or maybe valve cover gaskets, or the intake gaskets.

    Can I put a np203 in my 84’ K10 that originally had the 208?

Going to a 203 will mean driveshaft changes.. and maybe adding a “Part time” Kit to not be full time FWD. I wouldn’t even consider it.. I ditched the 203 to go to a 208 in the truck I’m building. You can’t give a 203 away in my area, 208s are going for $100-200 depending on the input shaft...

    Seat Belt Question

You want to heat the metal nut around the bolt so it expands… the trick is heating it quick before the heat transfers to the bolt itself. Have an impact/socket or long breaker bar ready. That broken one needed to be drilled in the center.. grind a broken bolt off flat before center punching...

    Bad Proportioning Valve?

I’ve had to f#$& with them before, they are a pain, years of corrosive brake fluid gumming them up inside. Here’s a link to what’s inside one: https://www.musclecarresearch.com/gm-1257208-rebuild

    np203 shifter

Are you sure it’s the shifter and not the transfer case itself? Those old transfer cases get sloppy inside. I’d start by disconnecting the shift linkage at the case levers, see how they feel when moving them. The shifter mechanism is made up of a couple of layers of plates with corresponding...
