    Coolant Temperature sensor

A while back, I was trying to get my temp gauge working quickly (trying to get her back home), but wasn't having any luck, so I installed a cheapo aftermarket kit from the local parts store, and all was good (other than her getting hot on the highway when I run the A/C). Now that I've got a few...

What have you done to your square lately??

Ah, gotcha, thanks. I've had the drivers side tank down once without removing the bed (thought I had a clogged sock), it was a real bear. Upon reinstalling, I realized my gauge wasn't right so I'm needing to get in there and check grounds and sending unit. For both sides. Thinking that...

What have you done to your square lately??

Did you pull the bed to do it? Think I've got a bad sender, and need to get in there. Thinking that the bed lift is the way to go?

    Aftermarket aluminum intake worth it?

Hey, thanks!! I do love lookin' at her! It's so cool getting this thing running a bit better every time I tinker. And my wife helps along the way. Which is fitting, because this is the rig she learned to drive with!! :)

    Aftermarket aluminum intake worth it?

Dang, that's what I was looking for! Oh well, the 2701 is already on the way back to Summit. lol

    Aftermarket aluminum intake worth it?

I hear ya. I've been extremely undecided on trying to stay stock or upgrading or building a 383. But, I've made a decision. At least for the remainder of this week. lol I've always loved the Mighty Mouse, so I'll be keeping this powerplant. But I'll be pulling the old 350 out in the spring...

    Aftermarket aluminum intake worth it?

Yeppers, that's the kit I ended up ordering. Was trying to find it local, but no joy. Just wasn't going to get here before I needed to get her put back together. Ended up just grabbing a bit of aluminum flat bar, drilling some holes, and calling it done until the kit comes in.

    Aftermarket aluminum intake worth it?

Another quick question for y'all. So, I've installed the intake and am letting it sit for an hour (per Ultra Grey's instructions), then I'll go out and torque her up. I applied a bit of RTV to the manifold bolt threads, but it just dawned on me. I've got A/C on this truck, and as such, I have...

Yeah, that's actually a picture of an Edelbrock 2101 intake. ;)

    Aftermarket aluminum intake worth it?

Yep, that's what I thought it was. And when I called my three local parts houses, all the kids sounded like I was speaking nonsense. LOL Probably gonna have to redneck engineer something until I can get a pretty kit. ;)

    Aftermarket aluminum intake worth it?

I appreciate all the replies folks! So here's the current plan. I need to get this thing back together before I leave for work again. Say, the day after Thanksgiving. So, I cleaned up the existing intake with degreaser, brushes, and whatever I could to get the 38 year old gunk off and in it...

    Aftermarket aluminum intake worth it?

Okay, let's go ahead and get this out of the way. I'm an idiot. There. Done. I said it. So, six months ago, I purchased an intake. Specifically, an Edelbrock 2701 intake. I shipped it to a work site, opened it up, and oooh'd and aaaah'd at the finish. I packed it back up, and dropped it...

    Upgrade order

Also, quick question for those that use RTV on the china rails as opposed to gaskets. How long do y'all let the engine sit after installing the intake before firing her up again? Y'all wait the full 24 hours before fluids and startup?

    Upgrade order

Thanks for the reply. I'll do my best to answer: When these plugs were installed, I had a pretty significant exhaust manifold leak that was fixed (headers) about 100 miles ago. Additionally, I lost an ignition module literally the same day I installed the headers, so there might be something...

    Upgrade order

Howdy y'all!! Sorry I bailed on you folks. I promise, it wasn't intentional. These crazy times we live in require me to get out and travel quite a bit these days, and access to the interwebs is danged near impossible. So it looks like I've got a few unexpected days here at the house, so some...

    Double Hump thoughts:

You bring up a good point. I've been tempted to go with vortecs, but have always shied away due to the cracking issue. If the summit brand vortecs have been re-engineered with a bit more meat, as you say, is the cracking still an issue that I'd need to be worried about?

    Upgrade order

Finally got some time to tinker these last few days. Wife worked on restoring the dash while I de-smogged and added headers. Also put in a new headliner! So with the headers installed, she seems to have a touch more grunt, but I always knew that I wanted to do a bit more for her. I'm...

What have you done to your square lately??

Also removed smog equipment and added headers. I'll be cleaning and keeping the old stuff. She's a lot cleaner looking under the hood now. I'll post some pics after I get the engine bay cleaned up a bit...

What have you done to your square lately??

Wife and I decided to tackle the nasty cracks in the dash. Cut out the bad parts, filled with foam, cut and sanded to contour, filled with reinforced bondo, sanded, coated with shaky can bed liner, and threw some paint on her. Just need to come up with final color and add my 3D printed speaker...
