    1983 K20 350 SBC Upgrade Opinions

Thank you all for your replies and comments! Again, sorry for the lateness of my replies, but 94 hours or so of night shift is wearing on me a bit. lol Sorry if I didn't clarify correctly. When I put down which parts I was looking into, I hyperlinked the part address from Summit, but didn't...

    Cliff Ruggles PDF Purchase

As the date gets closer to me getting to pick up my project 83 K20, I've decided to rebuild the Q-jet. As such, most recommend to buy Cliffs book on rebuilding the Quadrajet. Being impatient, and having access to a fast color printer, I decided to look for a download option to purchase. Sure...

    New Holley Carb help please??

Just to clarify, the motor was running fine until your buddy messed with it? I'm not a Holley guy, but it seems that if you could 'undo' what your buddy did, or at least find out what he did to the floats, (and why), that would be a good starting point. I would also say that your idle circuit...

    1983 K20 350 SBC Upgrade Opinions

Thanks for the advice! I actually made the call this weekend and talked to Summit. A fella there assured me that the heads would work as is. Thanks again for the reassurance! :) To be honest, I didn't know what a QJ was! I mean, I had HEARD of them, and how some folks hated them, but due...

    1983 K20 350 SBC Upgrade Opinions

75gmck25 - Thanks for the reply! Did you use the stock intake when you went with the Blueprint heads? Or did you already have a 'performance' intake installed when you made the head change? Thanks again!

    1983 K20 350 SBC Upgrade Opinions

1987 GMC Jimmy - Thanks for the reply! I do, however, have a question regarding the following statement: You mention the stock spring .450 lift threshold. In the heads I'm looking at from Summit, the maximum valve lift is 0.520 in. Is 'lift threshold' and 'maximum valve lift' the same...

    1983 K20 350 SBC Upgrade Opinions

Thank you all for your replies!!! I apologize for the late replies. Due to COVID, I'd been requested to work onsite for the foreseeable future. Working 13 hour days. At night. Seven days a week. Heck, I haven't stayed away past 2 in the morning in forever, so the switch to nights...

    1983 K20 350 SBC Upgrade Opinions

Thanks for the reply. I don't actually get to bring her home until the end of June (work), but I think I'm going to start stockpiling some parts in preparation. Even with the relatively low miles, I think a compression check is in order. Additionally, I would like to desmog it. Given that I...

    1983 K20 350 SBC Upgrade Opinions

Good afternoon! I'm sure this will just be the first in a long like of requests looking for advice. :) For a bit of background, here's my introduction thread: https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/hello-from-houston.29459/#post-573685 So, as my introduction mentions, she's in REALLY great...

    Hello from Houston!

Thanks y'all! This site, (and I'm just digging into it), has a been a huge help already in helping me choose a path forward. Looking forward to getting my hands dirty with 'Big Blue', the name the family has been calling her for nearly 40 years. :)

    Fuel pressure regulater installed...problem solved

Just spit balling here, but if you increase fuel pressure, you may be increasing 'head pressure's in the bowl. IF that's the case, then you could potentially have fuel being dumped in, prior to the engagement of the secondaries. Just a thought, and probably not a good one! Lol Regardless...

    Hello from Houston!

I recently came into owndership of a 1983 K20 with the 350 V8, mated to a 3 speed automatic. Only 52,000 miles (completely stock), very little (if any) no body rust, and she runs great. Well, as great as that poor air starved little 350 can run. I'll be taking care of that shortly ;). Oh and...
