Scores from DIY Parts Yards, Pull A Part, U Pull It etc

I had a few good scores from the Pull a Part today. I grabbed a headlight switch and taillight panel for my '97 Lumina (no pics). I found a gauge cluster and mint bench seat for the '81 C10. I was so exited about the seat, I put it in when I got home!

    Front door hinge spring replacement

This is exactly the info I needed to do the same on my passenger door! I ordered a replacement spring about 3 years ago with a bunch of other parts and tried to install it then. I couldn't find the trick to it, so I just put it away for later. Since it's the passenger door, it wasn't a priority...

Brand New A/C Compressor Clutch Slipping

Do I just stick a feeler gauge in between the pulley and clutch? I had the gauges on when I was charging it, but I don't remember the exact numbers. The high pressure was still coming up and the low was coming down. It's probably got about half the refrigerant it needs and then the squealing...

Brand New A/C Compressor Clutch Slipping

I've read about doing this, but how do I check it? I did notice what looked like small metal shavings around the pulley. I'm guessing that's not good! I'm pretty sure it's not the belt. Brand new belts and it looked like it was turning.

What have you done to your square lately??

I know about that on the jack handle, but I'm wondering about the little flat piece on the actual jack. This is what I'm talking about. It looks like it belongs, I'm just not sure what it's for.

Brand New A/C Compressor Clutch Slipping

I was hoping for better luck. I can turn it with a pair of pliers and it turns fairly easily.

Brand New A/C Compressor Clutch Slipping

I've got a brand new R4 compressor installed with a new condenser, drier, orifice tube, and o-rings. I vacuumed it down and started charging it with R134a. Once I got a partial charge in the system, the clutch started slipping and making this godawful screeching. I really don't want to have to...

What have you done to your square lately??

I mounted the original jack from my grandpa's '78 in my '81. I'm still missing a lug wrench though. I also don't know the purpose of what looks like a clip on the jack below the 'J' shape. Is it supposed to clip onto anything?

6 cyl backfire through exhaust and carb question

Sounds good to me. Good luck on that decelerator valve! You might want to make sure you don't have any cracks or splits in any of the other vacuum lines as well.

6 cyl backfire through exhaust and carb question

About $40 and I can get that carb to you in a few days. I've got the whole engine just sitting in my garage if you want anything else off it. Maybe the air cleaner?

6 cyl backfire through exhaust and carb question

I've got what I think is the original Rochester Varajet from my '81 250 if you want it. That engine has it's share of problems, but the carb is fine. I just swapped to a '78 engine without the integral head and don't have any use for the old carb. I think Rusty is on the right track with the...
