    carburetor size on a 350

2 CFM per cubic inch is a rough rule of thumb I was told many, many years ago. A mild 350 I used to have ran much better with a 750 double pumper than it did with a 650.

    Ingersoll Rand Compressor Problems

Well my belt was definitely loose! I tightened it and ran the compressor through one full cycle and it didn’t act up. So hopefully that’s all it was! If it turns out there’s something wrong with the pump and I decide to try to rebuild it, I’ll post some pictures. Thanks to all!!

    Ingersoll Rand Compressor Problems

The whole new pump is about that much on Amazon. The answer I’m hoping to get from someone who has fixed a similar problem is to buy a couple of bearings for $50 or less and cut new gaskets myself and be out of pocket less than $75! I’m all for just rebuilding it if all it needs is maybe some...

    Ingersoll Rand Compressor Problems

I know this is a stretch to ask, but there are some very seasoned folks on this forum. I have an IR air compressor with a model SS3 pump. The compressor electric motor seems to run fine and will pump up to @130 psi as it should. The problem is, while it is pumping up, the pump itself seems to...

That interior looks great! I haven’t looked yet but do they still sell those steering wheel covers like yours?

    Quadrajet idle screws question

I built this many years ago when I had a carb with those screws. I don’t remember why I cut the hex head off. Seems like it would be easier to turn if the hex was still there.

    Dash replacement

Thanks Scott! I will probably go that route when the time comes. By the way, I just saw them wrap a damaged dash on the Wheeler Dealers show yesterday.

    Dash replacement

Recovering your original dash pad...... What material do they normally use? Will it have any longevity in the sun as compared to the original? I need a new pad. I’m all for having my original covered if it has a chance of surviving the Texas sun for years. Recovering at $350 is cheaper than...

    Where do these wires go?

If you have an oil pressure switch, that’s a good place to get 12v switched signal that will shut off once the engine is no longer running. I did that on a John Deere 4020 for my uncle years ago. A toggle switch will work but you have to remember to turn it off. Another thing to think about is...

    Best Carbs for Cammed 350

I would look for an early electric choke Quadrajet from a 454. It would simplify installation if you still have your original intake, throttle cable and bracket. And it should be metered rich enough to get your new 350 close to optimal. If you get it tuned right, drivability will probably be...

    Stuck parking brake

And can anyone identify the punch???? SBC pushrod with one end ground flat.

    Stuck parking brake

You can see the shiny area on the emergency brake lever where I had positioned the punch to give her hell with the hammer of the Gods.

    Stuck parking brake

So this is not a square body, but I think it will relate. I have a 64 C10. The emergency brake cable was sticking on the right side. I drilled a hole in the hub just outside of the axle flange. This allowed me to get a punch on the emergency brake lever inside the hub and to drive it back...

    Rally Trim Rings - 85 K15

Good info here! Thank you all! I’m curious as to why the rings at Classic say they are for reproduction rally’s only.

    Rally Trim Rings - 85 K15

Hello! I have an 85 GMC K15 with factory rally wheels but no trim rings or center caps. Looking at LMC, they offer 2” wide or 3” wide trim rings. Does anyone know what width ring the truck would have had from the factory? Has anyone bought new rings and center caps from LMC? If so, were you...

    SBC 350?!?!?

TDY is a 1972, 1973 or 1980 350 Edit: Sorry, I wasn’t paying attention and thought the OP had posted pictures of his engine ID number.

I'm Going To Build A 650 HP 496 With 781 GM Oval Port Heads

Mark are you going to open a shop in Llano?? Maybe do a little work for the Martin Brothers? You will be about 3 hours from me. I’d love to bring you a set of 781’s to work your magic on. I’ve already done some port work/gasket matching so you might not be able to determine core shift on them.

Thank you Prairie Drifter! I have a slide hammer but hadn’t thought about using a J hook. I’ll give that a try.

NP 208C Front Output Shaft Seal R&R

Hello! I have an 85 GMC K15 and my front driveline output seal on my transfer case is leaking and needs to be replaced. I have already pulled the driveline and yoke. The seal doesn’t seem to have a metal lip around the outer edge to grab ahold of to pry it out like I am accustomed to seeing. Am...

My Rear End Build For My Low Buck Street/Race Truck

Mark, Most of them really don’t know who you are. But stick around. I’m sure you will pick up a few good engine building and chassis tuning tips along the way. I foresee a 496 with 781’s in the future of that truck.

    Slow hot crank

I had the same issue with a 79 GMC with a stout 350 and headers. I assumed it was a heat issue so I built a heat shield over the starter. That didn't work so I added an external solenoid on the fender well. I also added new double ground cables from the battery, one to the frame and one to the...
