    Timing Issue.....I think.

The easiest thing to do, if you haven't pulled the distributor out again already, is to turn the rotor pointing position 180°. You can put the timing mark on zero. Check the rotor position, 6 or1, and then carefully pull the distributor up enough to clear the gear, and point the rotor the exact...

    Timing Issue.....I think.

No, you just misunderstood something about the timing mark. The crank turns twice for every revolution of the camshaft. So with the balancer mark on 0, the rotor will point to 1 OR 6. You should have put the distributor in pointing to 6. Now you are 180° out.

    8.1 4l80e swap

Some quick notes I found doing the same searches. 1) The accessory brackets from a van chassis place the a/c compressor high, so no frame mods required. 2) the fuel map for the 8.1L is the same as other LS engines. It just uses bigger injectors. 3) the egr hits the pinch weld ON THE FIREWALL...

    Corn Hole?

This exact problem plagued the 82-83 v8 f-bodies. The fuel line from tank to engine would heat soak and the change in line diameter caused a pressure drop yielding vapor lock. GM added an in-tank low pressure pump and it solved (band aid) the problem.

turbo 400 sometimes sticks in first sometimes not!!!???

My first thought is the governor is sticking or the plastic gear has worn out. Easy fix either way.

Best Set-up for plowing, Dream rig

75Monza that sounds like an undies-changer! These new cable and cleat style tire chains look like they would work well. Less wear on the vehicle and lots of surface area for grip. I have a set for the TDI for the trips West but no longer have the car. Winter tires have come a long way!

Best Set-up for plowing, Dream rig

What about differentials? Posi, lockers, open front? Every now and then, plows show up for sale here in Florida. Always dirt cheap and cash negotiable. The difficult part is finding one off a square because of the age. I saw a plexiglas plow for an S-10 . Not sure about that shiz. There was a...

    Smeary glass

My never going to get worked on GTA is only dry inside if I leave the Damp-Rid bucket in it. I use the scented stuff nowto keep it fresh. My son's GTA grew some funky mold inside while parked in out garage. The only thing that stopped it was Mr Clean citrus all surface cleaner. It has EDTA as an...

Rear drum brake hot and screaming.

Except lugs and studs are wear items and you have now used 50% of their life! haha, better buy new studs and keep them handy. (insert a fitting humorous emoji here)

Rear drum brake hot and screaming.

Check your drum and shoe width. Light duty brakes are 2" and HD are 2 1/4". If you were sold a LD drum and put it over HD shoes, it will fit but pinch the shoe when you torque the lug nuts. Advance sold me two drums, same supplier, same part number...but not the same drums! Other than a...

what brand of fuel do you run in your square?

Over the weekend I drained the fuel from the generator (Hurricane Irma prepped) and dumped it in the 2500HD. The gas has SeaFoam in it and looked as good as new. The 2.5 gallon can that is el cheapo 87 without seafoam is already turning a yellowish color. Just an observation....

Best Set-up for plowing, Dream rig

Post up some ideas for a plow rig. I don't know squat about the plows themselves, but would like to learn. My idea: Square base model Suburban 3/4 with gas engine, TH400, and bulletproofed systems. Roll up windows and as simple as possible. Thoughts?

what brand of fuel do you run in your square?

As mentioned above, the gas does have to meet a minimum standard, but the percentage of ethanol can and will vary. A mileage loss from higher concentrations of ethanol is fact based in chemistry (less btu's per volume). The hype is the magic trick that gets us commoners to pay more for something...

what brand of fuel do you run in your square?

At the fuel depot in the port, most gasoline comes from common base stock with additive packages spec'd by the customer. One fuel truck may deliver the parts of the same load to several competing stations.
