    Dual carburetors on 250 I-6?

The ones I can find are for a 4bbl (which would be overkill IMO) or a triple carb setup (likewise). A single 2bbl carburetor intake would be ideal, but I do not believe it is available. I'm open to suggestions, but I have scoured the internet to find solutions to this problem. Elsewhere I...

    Dual carburetors on 250 I-6?

Engine is the 250/4.1L Inline 6 (non-integrated head) in a 1974 Custom 10. Keeping the 6 is important to me, just thought I'd mention that first. I'm having issues again with the carburetor after having it rebuilt last year. I'm also aware that the intake manifold was cracked due to extreme...

    Help! Carburetor on 250 I-6

I'm sorry, I totally spaced replying here. I thought I had, I do apologize. I have continued to update my other thread "My 1974 C10", link: https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/my-1974-c10.29048/page-3 There is nothing connected to the linkage to the choke that I can find anywhere. The...

    Help! Carburetor on 250 I-6

With all due respect, I think you're mistaken, and it may be due to misinformation, or miscommunication by myself. For that, I apologize. The choke is not on. It is not doing the high idle anymore because the linkage isn't being held (sometimes) by a mis-routed return spring. That issue is...

That looks amazing! I wanted my valve cover orange, but I found the chrome one for what I could afford, so that's what I got. Great looking engine bay man!

    Help! Carburetor on 250 I-6

Thanks! I love my old truck, and I have been a fan of Inline 6s since I've seen what they can do. And, there's the being different part, but it's not just for that reason. I do enjoy having something unique, and it's just an awesome old engine that has withstood crap that would've killed 8...

    Help! Carburetor on 250 I-6

Oh it has! I drove it around some this evening, it is far more manageable lol, not the chore it was before. I didn't realize how bad it was until now. He was appalled at the dinky way it was setup. That was the theme for the morning with every thing he worked on, lol. And, I'd love a beer, lol...

    Help! Carburetor on 250 I-6

Well, he said he could and will, but he didn't seem to think it was causing any of the problems. He said exactly what you guys were saying about the bracket and that spring on the intake manifold that works it. He didn't think it necessary for normal operation in this climate, but said we can...

    Help! Carburetor on 250 I-6

Here's a pic of the new bracket and the return spring in a position where it won't be getting in a bind and sticking. I just took the liberty of concentrating down the pic to show the bracket/spring better. The first pic shows the new PCV valve and grommet that FINALLY arrived, lol.

    Help! Carburetor on 250 I-6

@Burb restorer, excellent post! Thank you so much. Well, I ran it by the shop today, and the throttle was sticking because the return spring was not in the correct position, it was kinda in a bind. He fabricated me a bracket to hold it, and that is fixed. As far as the rest of the carburetor...

    Help! Carburetor on 250 I-6

You're right, I didnt answer because I simply forgot. No, I do not have the original carburetor or anything from the old system. I believe that is why he had no paperwork, etc. I bet he walked in, they took the new one out if the box, he dropped the old one in, and away it went, information...

    Help! Carburetor on 250 I-6

There is a eBay seller called Spark Surplus, I believe they're out of Texas. Anyway, I have found dozens of small, obscure parts that are otherwise difficult to source, all for reasonable prices. Mostly everh thing I buy from them is genuine Ford/Motorcraft, or GM/AC Delco brands, but I have...

    Help! Carburetor on 250 I-6

Yes, you're probably right. I think it is the transmission you are talking about, and I was thinking about something else. I looked up that transmission and found a shifter that looked exactly like the one in that old dually. I was wrong about the granny low.

    Help! Carburetor on 250 I-6

I bet THAT is the one that was in my uncle's old Chevy 3500. It was the first year of the 90s style for the heavy duty version (this replacing the updated square body trucks they were selling). It had an extra low gear, and an overdrive, if I remember correctly. I was just telling my best...

I'm totally open to suggestions here, I promise. I'm definitely going to ask my mechanic his opinion on all of this, too. How much searching online have you done for your coolant sensor?

    Help! Carburetor on 250 I-6

Sounds like an amazing setup, maybe time to get the fire back in your belly and get it going! Then you can do my truck for me, wink wink. Hey, should be a breeze after yours, eh? Anyway, yeah. It's hard to get yourself out there to get started again, especially when the work is tedious and...

    Help! Carburetor on 250 I-6

Haha well that's even more disappointing, kinda. Nahh, its fine, I can add it for the duration of the time it is running with a carburetor, assuming my mechanic can get it right. I will definitely talk to him about this, get his opinion. He builds hot rods and all kinds of custom vehicles, so...

    Help! Carburetor on 250 I-6

I agree. I've used it on farm equipment and other old vehicles, so it's very familiar to me. That is why I said that I would prefer it to an electric choke etc. Same reason I don't want power windows (or power steering for that matter), haha! Being that this truck had a factory generator...

    Help! Carburetor on 250 I-6

Yes, I like the idea of using a 4.3L throttle body. I will be doing towing and hauling occasionally, but the truck will be driven on the highway unloaded a lot, too. The injection, coupled with the 5 speed manual will make for an excellent, torquey and economical daily. Again, this is future...

    Help! Carburetor on 250 I-6

Wow! Such good information, guys, I really appreciate your comments, suggestions, etc. Time will tell, but using the TBI system parts from other GM vehicles sounds like a winner to me. The truck already has a new (stock-style) exhaust manifold, and it has a aftermarket electronic ignition (so...

    Help! Carburetor on 250 I-6

That's the information I was looking for, thank you again! I will expand my search to other years to see what I can find. To anyone: I know this would be easier with a more common engine, I'm certainly not oblivious to that. Lol! Just doesn't fit my goals for this truck.

    Help! Carburetor on 250 I-6

I'm quite sure it would make a profound difference, lol. My best friend lives up above Seattle, he acquired a 1970 250 6 that ran great when pulled. He said its mine if I want it, but 3,000 miles is a bit much lol. When I do go to visit, I will be taking my SVT Focus, so I won't be tossing...

    Help! Carburetor on 250 I-6

Thanks for the links! My memories of an Inline 6 1960s stepside truck was 1965 F-100 with the 240 I-6 and a 4 speed granny low. We stacked three cars (admittedly two without drivetrains), chained them down and that truck pulled them 40 miles or so to the scrap yard. I was extremely impressed as...
