What have you done to your square lately??

The boy went out to start up my 77 last week and no go. Battery was dead. This was not unexpected as it is pinned in behind another non running vehicle. He hit the hood release aaaaaaaaaaaaaannnd, nothing! The spring on the latch broke. Before I had even known of the problem, the boy did...

Tow Trucks, Wreckers and Car Hauler Discussion

End of shift call for a H-D impound. Turns out it belongs to a senior Bandito member. Glad I took care to secure his bike VERY CAREFULLY. The deputy serving the warrant was sweating it as well but the dude handled it really well.

I shouldn't say it's all I know. We both know there is no one size fits all solution. Those straps are always set up on my deck though, ready to go. I don't have to use anything else very often. I run straps through wheels on occasion, but I am not a fan of that. That's just me though.

Potential project- What I am getting into...

I figured if I stole the tranny I would need to change the torque converter. Stealing the tranny and T-case and drive lines would give me something more reliable then my 4l60.

Potential project- What I am getting into...

I just took a quick glance at it while picking up something else. I believe it is 4wd but I didn't verify it. I don't know the mileage as I didn't open it up. These people are not mechanically inclined and I think they parked it as soon as they tried the battery and failed. I would love to...

My last week in pictures... This was first thing this morning. Local kid hauling ass to football practice. Got rear ended by a big ass tree. He didn't make it to practice but will probably be back next week. 1970 Stingray with less than 50K, one owner car. 73 Trans Am...

Yeah, but the turbo isn't going to cause it to not start. It is an important consideration though.

Potential project- What I am getting into...

My problem is I don't know diesels. What would have caused this to stop starting? I've heard glow plugs (not bad) or Injector pump ($1000 fix). Possibly a stuck injector. Of course, now it will have a dead a battery. What else could I expect though? Any good ideas of what I am up against...

Potential project- What I am getting into...

Went to tow a VW today and got it all loaded up and then asked about the Burb sitting off to the side of the driveway. She tells me it is a 99 K1500 that they parked 2 years ago because they couldn't get it started. I did a double take because I didn't recognize one of the badges. Turns out...

DAMN! That is messed up. Job is dangerous enough working along side the road but to get a truck taken out just park at the driver's house is pretty messed up. I hope they find idiot quick. Sounds like he has two less friends.

We could use that one for the calls we get up the National Forest roads. Those calls really beat the crap out of the equipment.

    Show Us Your Man Cave

You should really check into the small claims rules for OK. Every state is a little different although most have a hard cap. It doesn't matter what it would cost in most cases to redo the work, you would only be able to sue up to the cap in small claims. If it is over that cap you would have...

    85 D30 aftermarket A/C kit, suggestions?

They may be cause for concern or not. The only way oil analysis is really effective for an engine or transmission is through regular analysis so you can track how things change. The numbers you were concerned about were in the expected range for oil, but I don't know if those numbers are...

    85 D30 aftermarket A/C kit, suggestions?

When I was driving long haul, we were encouraged to consider oil analysis. What I heard was that the analysis was a benchmark for that specific engine. You use the first one to compare against the future ones for that engine. That isn't to say that there aren't numbers that would jump out at...

What have you done to your square lately??

I used to think the same thing. The thing is that it is about what is going on in their head. Not the thoughts, but the chemicals. When they get to that point it isn't the thoughts or emotions driving them anymore, it is the chemical imbalances. It can be overcome but they aren't fighting...
