Rear brake lights stay on 1983 C10

That's how the switch is supposed to work. Pressing the button in breaks the circuit. Releasing the button makes contact. Probably just needs adjusted.

Tie rod ends shot. Ball joints too?

Could possibly be the axle u-joint. If it will still make the popping noise with the front up on Jack's, maybe try removing the tie rod from the knuckle and turn the knuckle back and forth by hand. If it still pops it ain't the tie rod. Then you could pull the axle shaft out and see if it stops.

Tie rod ends shot. Ball joints too?

For the last 18 of the 25 years I got paid to work on cars and trucks they called me a "suspension specialist". I don't recall ever hearing a tie rod make a popping noise. I missed my old truck

Yeah. They'll rub. But trimming will get rid of a lot of the rust. :) And the running boards will be going away too. I'll most likely get a 4" lift before too long. Kinda poor right now.

    I missed my old truck

Well, the tags on it say '02. The guy I bought it from said it had only been moved around on the property since then. It ran when I bought it. Barely. Had to push it on the trailer with a tractor. It backed off under its own power. Had 1900 vacuum leaks, I de-smogged it, corked up the exhaust...

    I missed my old truck

Had a bunch of trucks in my day, some of em pretty cool. My favorite was a 76,77,78,79,80,81 Chevy C/K-10/20 shortbed. The title called it a 77 K10. Spent way too long driving the wheels off of a Jeep Grand Cherokee then got a 99 K1500 Suburban so I could tow stuff. Working on the 99 sucks. Too...

    Engine Stall and Transmission issue-85c10

Vapor lock? If the fuel line that runs up the front of the engine is too close to the block it can cause that.

    Ignition issues.. I think..

One time that happened to me. Turned out it was no ground on the tail lights. Power was going back thru ignition to keep truck running. It's been long enough ago I can't recall if I turned them on or off to kill the truck. Probably had to turn them off. Could be anything electrical. Radio maybe...
