    If all the electrical power disappears when you hit the starter then I'd bet dollars to donuts you have a bad connection to the battery. Could be the power or ground side, but you've got a voltage drop on one side or the other. Got a test light or multimeter? Do this: Joe

    Saw a similar problem an awfully long time ago. Engine ground strap was bad. Engine was grounding through the driveshaft. It ate the rear bushing out of the trans and scarred the driveshaft yoke. How's the side play of the yoke?

    Unplug the electrical connectors to the injectors. Cycle the key. The injectors should not spray fuel. If they do, you probably rolled an o-ring when you installed them. If they only squirt when plugged in, you need to figure out what is grounding them. On the short list of possibilities...

    While the TH400 is much stronger than the 700R4, it matters very little when you are in 4L. With the gear reduction of the transfer case, either trans has an easy walk in the park to move that truck. If you hurt either trans in 4L, something else is really wrong. Joe

    After seeing you say you had 2nd gear only I checked the apply chart for that trans. I was certain with both shift solenoids off that you'd have 3rd gear only, but I was wrong. It's second gear only. You also should have had reverse too. It's possible that your B solenoid is not turning on...

    A couple of things would have to happen for the truck to do this. 1) The Low/Rev clutch pack has to be slipping 2) Some other clutch must be applying in addition to the direct Clutch to get forward drive. It's possible it was caused by a valve body problem, but you're pulling it regardless...
