The Classic Auto Air blows crazy-cold. On low blower it about freezes me out of the truck. It's often in the 30s. turning the blower to high got me about 42 degrees from the vents while it was mid 80s out today.
Got my bumpers back on and it's mostly complete. I just have to put a new...
Got the truck back from being sprayed yesterday. It looks kinda purple when the pics are taken inside, but the blue metalflake really comes out when it's in the sunlight. The pics of it outside are the true color of the truck. I'm definitely happy with it.
The paint isn't perfect, but I...
I just installed one from Classic Auto Air. Build quality of everything except for the vents louvers was nice. Vents were a little cheesy, but not any worse than competitive systems. Nothing like OEM ones.
It blows colder than any other AC system I've ever had. I don't know how it doesn't...
I know that the LS swap crowd avoids external pumps like the plague. Word on the street is that their death is very predictable. They don't last long.
I only ever tried one once, and it was when I swapped a tuned port motor into an 85 S10 Blazer. It lasted only a few months. I went to an...
I've got a 1930 or so Rumely DoAll. Most of the parts for it had to be made. Piston rings, valves, clutch, brake linings, drive hears for the wheels....and on and on. It took me years but it's a working tractor now.

Some of these systems have the cruise stalk wired to the cruise module. Others are wired to the PCM. Please post what year/model your engine came out of, and do the same for the cruise module you used.

The kit didn't come with any supports for the line, but I know for sure if you don't support the lines coming out of the the condensor you'll be putting a new one in before long. so I added 2 supppports on the radiator support.

Thanks Fried Daddy. You saw how rough it was before, so that means a lot. Primer does make everything look good. We'll see how I did once the base/clear is on it. I found a new painter and he says he can get it in the booth by Thursday. I'm looking forward to it.

You need to check the secondary(high voltage part) ignition. It may just be a misfire. The hardest time for a spark to jump a gap is when you are in 4th gear with the converter locked. If a shake goes away when you unplug the converter it could be a miss.
It's time for you to check your...
This is what I would recommend. Another member here has the same truck as me. Fried Daddy installed new poly suspension bushings. The difference in highway-speed handling (and higher) was night and day. I plan to do mine before too long.

Here's a couple of pics of the dash vents. I used a small pair of pliers to bend the edges of the vent up. This made them drop into position. Also the bolt holes didn't quite line up, but if I used smaller diameter bolts and some washers they were held in place properly...
Things that were a pain in the butt:
None of the vents fit as I thought they should. The dash vents required modification to fit in the holes.

The long vent that attached to the passenger side was broken in 2 pieces. I'm not...
This week I started adding aftermarket AC. I went with Classic Auto Air. Their kit is pretty nice, but not perfect. I've never installed one before though, so it may be comparable to other kits.
Here is the unit before installing it under the dash. Everything is included in one unit. Heater...
Another choice would be to find a local body parts store. Most cities have one. Talk to a local body shop to find where they buy their parts. It'll save you shipping costs and they can get both cheap or OEM quality parts for you.

I stopped using STP when I saw how bad it made my oil sludge in the heads. Granted it was many years ago, and the oil was way more paraffinic in those days, but I never went back to it after that. Any engine that I have that needs better lube gets BG Motor Oil Additive put in it. I don't do...
On an 85, the 3rd line goes to the charcoal canister. Did someone plug it? If so, you just diagnosed it. Plugging that line will make it develop a vacuum in the tank as you drive it. That sure would explain the empty fuel filter, surging and no-start.
Joe
If you do end up plumbing the EVAP Canister to the carb, it really is best of you use ported vacuum. I also recommend you use a thermostatic switch of some sort. That way you are only purging the canister when it's warmed up, and your foot is on the gas.
If you use manifold vacuum for it...
Got the mirrors on it a couple of days ago. Had to drill the holes for them. I have to admit that it took a bit of nerve to drill holes in the panels I just fixed, but it had to be done. I measured a few other squares before I did mine. Also, I had ordered the mirrors from LMC but they left...
It definitely takes skill and patience! After doing every panel on the truck I can say I'm a lot better now than when I started. however, I'm no expert, and probably never will be.
I'm not going to spray it. There's a guy up the road from me that does mostly classic cars. He has a...
After final priming, I took the doors and box off. You know that when you are changing colors you have lots of extra painting to do. So this allowed me to paint the areas that the painter didn't want to do. Carquest was able to make me up some rattle cans using the paint code I was going...
Not knowing what I was doing I headed back to my buddies place thinking I was done sanding. He said we were priming, it, which to me meant we were about to paint it. No so. It only meant we were going to be block sanding looking for more high and low spots. I gotta admit that I was feeling...
