    Rear gear pattern comments?

I'm going to post mine up here also so we don't have a ton of threads with the same thing. I think this looks good, but this is my first time. Thoughts?

    Time for a rebuild..

Well, just got my transmission rebuilt. Rebuilt the t-case. Put it all back together and it drives fine until I hit exactly 60mph. Then it starts vibrating like crazy. It sounds like something is loose in the t-case, and it actually moves the shifters around. At first I was thinking the forks...

    4l80e rebuild gone wrong...

Got it back together and in. It's drivable. Something still doesn't feel quite right, but I'll live with it. If I get on the gas at any speed it hesitates a bit and occasionally feels like it's shifting up and down rapidly before it holds a gear. Some of it might be the engine from sitting for 4...

    4l80e rebuild gone wrong...

Just getting back to be able to work on this thing, and I figured out what I did wrong in 2 seconds. I ordered a new forward drum and center support and laid them on the table next to my old ones. Today I come out and just for fun, spun the sprag on the bottom of the forward drum.. yeah, the...

Pulled the trans apart. Couldn't see anything obvious other than my assumption. Something was staying engaged. Found that the direct clutches are smoked. What would keep them engaged? There's no nicks in the piston. Everything still felt good and spun fine when I was taking it apart. No sign...

    4l80e rebuild gone wrong...

It came out of a 1998 Suburban with a 454. I took the transmission apart initially because of the output shaft, but it was ready to grenade. I cleaned it thoroughly and took apart/replaced everything to make sure all the bits were out. Here's what I found on my initial teardown.

Np. Thanks. I could use all the help I can get at this point, lol. I'm thinking the first time I rebuilt the t-case I didn't get something right and it was barely in that lo/hi state. I didn't have a front driveshaft for the 3 years I was driving it so I wouldn't have noticed it. In the short...

    4l80e rebuild gone wrong...

@NickTransmissions Ok, Quick update. I'll probably be pulling the transmission out this weekend. I took it for a very short ride. It shifts from 1st to 2nd at about 2500rpm, normal, when it gets into second it bogs down, like I said like the brake is on. I rode it out for a second though into...

    4l80e rebuild gone wrong...

I'll put it back together tonight after I check that servo and with the new separator plate. The t-case stick is pulled back, so unless something changed in the t-case, it should be in high, but I will double check. I have a twin stick NP205 and ORD shift rails. I believe breaking the output...

Yes, new sprag was purchased and installed. I remember checking to make sure they spun in one direction and in the correct direction. The spiral snap ring was installed correctly. I remember checking to make sure it was seated properly and fully. Air checked the T40 bolt. I can see the...

It moves instantly. It won't shift into second until high rpm. I answered the questions in post #6, but probably got skipped over because they were in paragraph form. Here they are again: > Replace the boost valve with a Sonnax 4L80E-LB1 (I don't like Transgo's valves either for these or the...

    4l80e rebuild gone wrong...

Bought a new factory separator plate since mine had some major check ball wear. Should be in tomorrow. Plugged the hole I drilled for the HD2 relief. Here's what's going on. Anything else I should check while the valve body is out? Put the truck in drive, first gear wouldn't shift until high...

    4l80e rebuild gone wrong...

Did some digging. It had p0758 trouble code and another. It was limping. I cleared the codes and tried to take it for another drive. Now it surges in first till it shifts second, then it's like it brakes. If I take my foot off the gas it slows down fast, then barks the tires downshifting. Edit...

Ok. I want you all to know I am a moron @Bextreme04 had it correct. It was the t-case. Or rather operator error. I had it in fwd with no front driveshaft. Swapped sticks and it lights the rear tires up. But now a new problem. It doesn't shift lol

Fig 8. I bought the long input from ORD and rebuilt the t-case. Yup, got the spacers on the outside of the bearings, everything spins good, not too much play. Now, for the tranny rebuild, I bought a "cut to fit" forged tailshaft from ATI Racing and swapped the t-case to a short input. After I...

NP205 with twin stick and rail mod. I'm using the ORD adapter. I'll check the transfer case when I get home.

    4l80e rebuild gone wrong...

Alright, a lot to answer here.. I didn't get a chance to pressure test it. I didn't have a way to do it at the time, but I do now, so that was going to be one of my tests before I pulled it. I installed the transgo stuff, the only Sonnax piece I installed was the rear bushing. So no to the...

    4l80e rebuild gone wrong...

Looking for some help here before I pull the tranny again. Transmission has 250k+ miles on it and wore out enough to strip the output shaft splines going into the t-case. So I decided it was time for a rebuild and upgrade. Bought a rebuild kit with red Alto clutches and all the fixings, and a...

    Any pcb experts out there?

I think it's LT5B07, but yeah, there still isn't much info on it. Sending it in for repair was my last resort. A replacement chip is usually about $1.

    Any pcb experts out there?

Power wire that goes from the starter to the fuse box came loose in the terminal (not my crimp job, lol) and short circuited some stuff. Took out my RetroSound radio. It blows the fuse immediately. I took it apart and found this. I dabble in pcb stuff at work for old machines, but it's limited...

    Bought a boat

Rebuilt pretty much the whole thing. Tore it all the way down. Put all new marine grade plywood down, and new carpet. Wife wanted all new seats and 2 bimini tops, so here it is! I still have to do all the wiring and get it fired up. Got myself a comfortable captain's chair as well. The only...

    Bought a boat

Since we've been wanting to move, my wife has been wanting a boat. Well, now that we've moved and I finally got a job, got to talking to a guy at work and he was selling his pontoon. After searching FB marketplace his turned out to be a really good deal. Most on FB around here are 16-20 footers...
