Green Gas Monkey Wrecked Truck being rebuilt.

I nearly cut a hole in my cab last night before I realized the fit wasn't going to be great with the way it snaps in. I went back to the video and noticed his was pretty sloppy too and they glued it to make sure it sealed. It was episode 6 that they did that in the last third of the video. I...

Green Gas Monkey Wrecked Truck being rebuilt.

I am giving some serious thought to doing this cab vent trick... I noticed that the vent doesn't fit tight and he says he is going to glue it to make sure it doesn't leak. Would you guys trust the glue and if you would, what glue would you use? I really don't want to make a hole in the cab that...

What new tools have you got lately?

Not really a tool either but I did hang a TV over the tool box yesterday. Ignore the mess, this is evidently the best I can do :P

What new tools have you got lately?

I don't know who makes the ratchet heads for Matco but they feel better than the Tektons I have. Not by a huge margin or anything but some better. The Tekton flex head has a more positive flex joint than whatever you can scheme up with a hybrid like this. I only have a 1/4" snap-on to compare to...

I would hope the handle is tougher since the handle accounts for 80% of the cost. You’ll be doing without the warranty too and you’re probably better off getting the whole tool if you have the tool guy visiting you anyway.

What new tools have you got lately?

I guess I could also mention that I have made a few Matco Ratchet bastards but I think they are putting the squeeze on that deal these days. If you don't know, you could buy the Matco flex heads as a replacement part for less than 35 bucks and pickup a breaker bar from harbor freight for under...

I picked up one of those snap on jack copies that HF sells this weekend with their spring black friday deal in candy apple red :)

Advice for rebuilding a 350 on a budget

I might hit you up for a starter and alternator. I’ll have to see if I have a good one. I have came up with 4 of these ls engines since you were last by to visit. 2 had been through fires, one underwater after a hurricane and one wrecked so hard the block is broken. I have a few accessories...

Advice for rebuilding a 350 on a budget

I let my dad have the block that had ate the cam. He’d been looking for a core to build a 383 from and his was at 60 over and needed work again. I stuck the block from my truck under the workbench and started making plans for an ls swap.

When the older guy was torching off the powder coat you could see the flame in the gaps of the bar brackets. They were just tacked on too. :/

What new tools have you got lately?

If it spits paint out the front and not down my arm I will probably be impressed :D I am not a real painter either and probably wouldn't even start to paint something I had to buy an automotive grade paint for. That stuff is way to expensive for my skill level. These will be to prevent rust on...

What new tools have you got lately?

I picked up a couple of the HF purple paint guns today. I painted my stock trailer with their electric hvlp gun and was pleased with the results but not with the cleanup of it so I thought I would try out the air version this round.

Those things will go through interior plastic like butter too if you get the hankering to modify your later model interior. Put in some extra cup holders in the dash or what have you lol :)

    73-80 bumper guards (wanted)

Are your's from a truck or a van? @bucket mentioned in another thread that the van guards bolt differently.

What new tools have you got lately?

I don’t use a pickle fork much. They screw up the rubber on tie rods and stuff in my experience. This should solve that and keep you from having to use my method of the pry bar and hammer shock until it flys apart. I thought about getting one of these but worried about the quality. Let me know...

    TH350 Pedal Mounted Detent Cable??

Yep, been in a fire and I got a pretty good deal on it. The accessories should be easy to come up with in the junkyard.

    TH350 Pedal Mounted Detent Cable??

Well, I guess we’ll figure it out. I’ll probably get the neighbor who runs a trans shop fix me up but it did look fairly easy on YouTube lol

    TH350 Pedal Mounted Detent Cable??

Well, I have been working on figuring out how to convert the 4x4 4l80 in that truck the motor is in to 2wd and that might be the best option. It gives me an overdrive gear and would be more beef than the TH350. I called the local trans shop and they offered to check it over and switch it for...

    TH350 Pedal Mounted Detent Cable??

The LQ4 is in a 4x4 and my truck is not. I may upgrade the transmission later but I don't have one to use for now. For now I am still in the brainstorming phase. Going back to the yard Friday to get the LQ4. I wanted to get this thread going in case someone else out there in square land has...

    TH350 Pedal Mounted Detent Cable??

I am working toward doing an LQ4 swap into my 78 C10 and had planned to keep the TH350 I have for the time being or for a long time if it lasts. Anyway, long story short, I would like to figure out a way to keep the passing gear cable and wondered if running it off the accelerator pedal would be...

    73-80 bumper guards (wanted)

Add me to the list of folks looking for the bumper thingys for the early bumper profile. Chrome is what I want. I wouldn't care to buy new if anyone knows of a source for them.

What new tools have you got lately?

Sounds pretty much like my story :D The long air hammer bits raised my eyebrow. What kind of air hammer do you have? I picked one up at harbor freight and that thing doesn’t do anything but make noise. Just curious what works so I can throw this pos in the bin

2/3 of it is riding the new box. The part with wheels is going to be a tool cart if I can manage it.
