    towing rig

I’m going to play devils advocate here. I know nothing about the laws and weights of hot shotting as a disclaimer. But I am a advocate for running old iron instead of modern or new. I’m a heavy duty truck mechanic and also have my class A commercial driving license. I have my own tractor trailer...

    Charging system WEIRDNESS, need advice

Are you by chance using the stock voltmeter to measure this? Or using a volt meter right on the battery?

Shop it to Maine. I’ll gladly take a rust free truck with any and all gremlins

What have you done to your square lately??

Put a quick coat of wax on my hood. Trying to keep the patina as long as I can before I start getting surface rust. I want to paint the truck but it’s too damn expensive. I’m going to have to do it myself but time is an issue also. I do like the patina though. Ben

Primary fuel filter bleed - diesel 6.2

The reason you can’t do what you described with a mechanical pump is that for the mechanical pump to pump, you need to start the motor. And since you’ll have an air gap from the fresh filter, your injection pump will run out of fuel before the mechanical pump will prime the filter. You’d have to...

Primary fuel filter bleed - diesel 6.2

Yes, if you indeed have an electric lift pump, put your filter on dry, and run the pump with bleeder open until fuel comes out. I would close the bleeder while pump is pumping just to force any air through and back the return. This is not the factory set up or filter you have on there but it...

    Oil pressure question on my 77 K10 350 Chevy…..

Probably not this guys problem because he’s using an old distributor. But, the distributor housing actually seals the oil passage down in the block to send oil to the top end. The cheap turning tools don’t have this ma cb in it in them and won’t send oil to the top end. Just something to look...

Help with diesel tractor engine miss

Run the motor, crack the injector lines one at a time while it’s running to isolate which cylinder is skipping. You can now at least double check valve adjustment to rule that out. If nothing obvious, take that injector out and swap it with another cylinder. See if the skip follows. Report back...

    Overdrive not working

No, it just means power is going into the transmission. It then has to go through the pressure switch on the valve body and then solenoid. It’s just a test port to see if the fuse, brake switch and in your case throttle switch are working. Ben

    Odometer Rolled Over?

That is a good thing to look at but believe it or not, my 87 2wd suburban still has the factory riveted upper ball joints. Just turned 304,000 miles. I was blown away when I rebuilt the front end last winter and saw those. Ben.

    Overdrive not working

My words guys. The 6.2 does not use ANY VACUUM OF ANY SORTS for the 700r4 transmission or it’s converter. The vacuum converter switch was only for the gas jobs. The 6.2’s have an electric throttle position switch on the injection pump that will lock and unlock the converter depending on throttle...

    Overdrive not working

There is for SURE no vacuum involvement for a 700r4. The th400 uses vacuum to control shift points and has a valve on the throttle linkage at the injection pump for control vacuum signal to the modulator at the trans. Another thing. The OP needs to stop saying his overdrive isn’t kicking in...

    1981 k5 blazer th350 boiling fluid?

That should work. Honestly. I’ve been too busy to actually fix it. It’s just a little low on fluid and doesn’t do it anymore. Savage but I just didn’t have the time this winter to fix that. Ben

    1981 k5 blazer th350 boiling fluid?

I’m betting your transmission vent tube is plugged. Probably with a mud dauber. My truck sat for 20 years and that was the issue. Mine would actually push fluid out the top of dipstick tube when I started it. Ben

What have you done to your square lately??

Had to do an emergency parking lot break down repair to get myself out of a tow. I got the 82 going for the season yesterday. Drive it to work and started running a few errands after work today. Just bought $180 worth of groceries, most frozen. Got in the truck, fired it up and after about 3...

ESC need someone that knows more about ESC system than I do

I don’t think it has anything to do with the coolant other than there was already a threaded hole in the block to drain coolant and the engineers utilized that hole to mount the knock sensor. I’ve already said it, but just go for it. Move it to the drivers side and run it. Ben

ESC need someone that knows more about ESC system than I do

Why can’t it be put in the drivers side coolant plug? Just leave the old one alone before you make a mess of it. Extend the one wire and problem solved Ben

    Body Panel Parts for Suburbans

I’d have to measure to make sure but the over the wheel arches are the same with all models. Behind the wheel lower 1/4 I think is the same as a long bed and the small lower piece of the 1/4 in front of the wheel can be sit down from a shortened piece. May just have to get creative that way. Good luck. I’m not a pro at marketplace but you can move your location if search so you can search 100 mile radius out west. Just a thought. Ben
