Help finding woodgrain door panel trim 81+

They never made any but the short ones for the doors. They extended the padded area up and that’s why the trim is shorter.

Fan Swap From 350 3 Blade To 6.2 5 Blade

Good luck, I’m telling you it happens fast. I’m 6.5 miles from my work and couldn’t make it without overheating. Only with the plow on. I wasn’t expecting it the first time since I’d never had a problem with engine temp at all. Ben

What have you done to your square lately??

Long story short, I’m putting an 81-87 mensch seat in my ‘76 because I swapped from just lap belts to shoulder belts and the bottom latch is routed differently. The old ones just go through the gap between the seat bottom and back. The shoulder belt style has a hole in the bottom cushion for the...

Fan Swap From 350 3 Blade To 6.2 5 Blade

I see you’re from Maine. Where abouts? I’m from the Portland area. Anyway, all of my squares that have plows and drive on the road need to have a locked fan. My 87 had a solid mounted flex fan on it while I had a plow on it. And my 76 I use now I just drilled and bolted the stock fan clutch...

    33X12.5X15 Mud Terrain Tires

I’m willing to bet I’ve got the loudest tire on the road right now lol. I know a little off topic but had to post. Very period correct for my ‘76. Bias ply to boot.

    Finally started

That coolant sensor set isn’t going to work. It needs water passing by the sensor at all times. Not dead ended with that elbow set up. I run a temp sensor with headers like factory no problem. Ben

    My’04 Mustang GT

Yeah, they’re just used outdated mustangs at this point. I’d like to think mine is worth something or will be someday because of its history with me, mileage/condition. But not what I got the car for or even care about at all. It is kind of frustrating owning a new edge and seeing how far...

    My’04 Mustang GT

Nice cars guys! Mine only has 32,600 miles on it. I didn’t even realize when I was looking that there was a Mach1 option. It was august ‘04, the new cars were on their way but hadn’t hit the dealerships yet. I honestly had no idea. I knew I wanted a muscle car, dodge only had the viper which...

    My’04 Mustang GT

Figured I’d share a few pictures of my 2004 Mustang GT. I bought it brand new, August 27, 2004. Never seen winter. For the first 10 years, never even saw rain. Started having kids in ‘14 and didn’t have time to keep it polished like I had and I put it in storage. 4 years later I missed it so I...

    Favorite Project Truck Sales Pitches

Up in Maine, I see all the time listing for square bodies that say “rust free for the year” or “ rust free for Maine” or. “Just did rockers, cab corners floors etc, it’s rust free” Also, every rotted out square up here that has pictures and the body is literally more rust than metal the ad...

What have you done to your square lately??

I’ve had a busy square body week. Took apart the holley on my ‘76 to change power valve and gaskets. Adjusted it and the timing that was much needed. Swapped out the non a/c blower motor for an a/c blower motor and fan. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Oil change, replaced the embarrassingly worn out tie rod...

What have you done to your square lately??

Here’s my speedy cast pump setup. I knew the new guy was from New England with the fisher plow set up. All I’ve ever had is fisher and all I’ll ever use. Since I’m hopefully going to have squares for life and I’ve got about 6 complete speedcast setups I think I’m good! lol Ben

6.2 diesel loosing 12v on the IP shutoff solenoid

You can always unhook the red wire and put a jumper directly from the battery to rule out a faulty shut off solenoid. Be 100% sure it’s a power supply problem and not a solenoid problem. Ben

6.2 diesel loosing 12v on the IP shutoff solenoid

6.2 diesel. No computer. Oil pressure sensor has nothing to do with shutoff solenoid. Ok, that out of the way, I’d be checking the single wire that goes to the shut off solenoid itself. It’s the pink wire on top of injection pump. If you haven’t noticed, these motors shake a little bit…. I’d...

    Ignition power issues

I’ve totally updated my suburban with extra grounds and power blocks under the hood and in the dash to basically bypass and supplement the factory firewall bulkhead and undersized charging/starting wiring. Ben

    towing rig

They do the 4 cylinder idle to make it warm up faster. Diesels don’t really build heat at idle because of how little fuel is needed to be injected. Even when up to temperature, diesels will cool down a little when brought back to idle. It takes more fuel and more heat is made from running on 4...

    Torque converter 700r4 and TH400

Ok that’s what I thought but wanted to check. I’m not even buying the 400 so I won’t be scrapping it. I shouldn’t even be buying anything but can pass up this deal on the motor. Ben

    Torque converter 700r4 and TH400

So, I’m going to get a 6.2 that is mated to a th400. I don’t want the th400. Any chance the torque converter is the same between the 700r4 and TH400? Did they ever offer a lockup converter in the 400? I guess I’ll be able to tell easily when I get there if there are any wires running to the...

    700r4, gas to diesel difference

The 700 I’m going to use is from my ‘89 parts truck. Was a good running truck. Just rust got the best of it. Already have a big cooler in the truck. I don’t use the truck for anything but a pickup. May haul a trailer once a year to haul another square I buy or something like that. A load of...

    700r4, gas to diesel difference

I would just get a converter specific for the 6.2. As for the lockup circuit, I don’t like the factory throttle switch that my suburban has. It’s very primitive and always unlocks the converter at idle so every time you let off to coast, the converter unlocks. The unlock under throttle is at...

    700r4, gas to diesel difference

Yeah, I don’t want to hear how weak or trash the 700’s were. I’ve only ever had 700’s and never had one let me down. I’m not a savage, don’t haul 20k and I make sure the converter lock works on them all. In my experience, the converter lock system is the fate of all 700’s. Everyone and their...

    700r4, gas to diesel difference

Ok guys, long shot here but has anyone ever put a gas 700r4 behind a 6.2? I’ve come across a super cheap and supposedly good 6.2 I just can’t pass up. Been thinking about swapping a 6.2 into my 76 k25 and running a 700r4 and np208 transfer case. I’ve never cared about gas mileage but this last...

    Ignition power issues

Found the problem. It was actually a poor connection at the positive terminal of the starter. Not the start terminal, but the battery terminal. I started poking around looking at things and found where I did and didn’t have power. I tested for power at the starter and when touching the actual...

    Ignition power issues

Hey guys, first I’ve got to b!tch about the GM factory wiring diagrams. I’m a 20 year ASE master technician and I’ve never seen such a Sh!tty wiring schematic setup in my whole career. GM’s “better” idea of not showing each wire from start to finish is an absolute disaster. I’m trying to...
