Lets give the 6.2 diesel some love

I actually like the 6.2 in my suburban also. Love the fuel economy because I daily it. I like the simplicity of it. I also have to saw as an owner of a 12 valve 5 speed 1 ton dually Cummins owner, ANYONE who thinks the 6.2 has even a remote advantage over the Cummins is either a simple minded...

Best headlights to use, NOT LED

Ok thanks guys. Next question. I’ve found some hella’s in stock. Now, are you guys using the stock hella h4 bulbs or some aftermarket bulbs. What gauge wire are you guys running with the relay set up? Thanks Ben

Best headlights to use, NOT LED

you do know that all 4 lights are on with high beam right? The 88-98 trucks only had high beam lights on (inner lights) with high beam selected. The 81-87 four eye trucks have dual element bulbs in the top light and just high beam bulbs in the bottom. So with high beam selected, all 4 lights are...

Best headlights to use, NOT LED

My sealed beams are for sure old and I can literally see the faded back reflection side of the bulb so I know just new lights and relays would probably be a big change. I just figure that this is my family rig, I’m going to be changing them anyway, might as well go all out. I also drive to work...

Best headlights to use, NOT LED

Hey guys, what is your favorite headlight to use that’s an upgrade from the factory sealed beams. I’m going to do the relay set up on my 4 eye 87 suburban. I have already beefed up my alternator and all wiring so load shouldn’t be an issue. I do NOT want led’s because I don’t like the look of...

    Fender Antenna

My 82 has the same fender mount. It’s been converted to windshield and I’ve always had the windshield antenna in my other 10 squares. Never had reception issues either. Ben

    Polishing a turd

Thank you. I love my rally wheels for sure. They’re off my 87 jimmy that’s why they are blue. I put a set of the factory aluminum wheels on that truck so I had these kicking around. I go back and forth on the trim rings. I couldn’t bring myself to put them on these wheels after I painted them...

    Polishing a turd

I did get some good before pictures of the bed sides. I got the passenger side cleaned and polished today but didn’t get any pictures yet.

    Polishing a turd

Here’s some more of the front end. The SOS pads are doing a great job of removing the black overspray from the doors, fenders and can so hopefully with some more work, it’ll be all gold with no black again.

    Polishing a turd

I don’t really think my truck is a turd at all, but the idea made me laugh. I’ve owned this truck for 10’years now and have never actually washed it I’ve blown the dirt off with a pressure washer a few times and the salt off the very few times I absolutely needed to use the truck in the winter...

What have you done to your square lately??

Worked on the suburban a bit too. Replaced the tired 12si alternator of unknown amperage with a new rebuilt 94amp unit. Was tired of loss of charging at idle and the volt gauge heading to the left. I had already done the big three, plus an extra 10 gauge power feed to the bulkhead, 4 gauge...

What have you done to your square lately??

Installed the new crate 350 in my dads Jimmy. Hooked everything up and broke it in. Went awesome. Fired up like it was running the hour before. Ran it 15 minutes at 2-3grand. No leaks, didn’t get hot went mint. Let it cool. Set base timing then went out for a break in ride. Dumped oil...

Upgrade: Installing the longer 2WD 3/4 ton 454 radiator

Ok thanks, so that won’t work for my 6.2. Any idea if there is a normal rotation fan like that?

Upgrade: Installing the longer 2WD 3/4 ton 454 radiator

So is that fan a reverse rotation fan? I’d love to upgrade to that fan for my suburban with a 6.2 in it. I don’t have heat issues but it would be good for the a/c in the summertime.

    I AM STUMPED!

I’m not being condescending, I’m serious. Asking for help is what we’re here for but we at least need some information. I did read your post and waited the day for a better picture but still don’t have it. It’s be like me asking a question like.... My motor is making a noise, what is it guys? ben

    I AM STUMPED!

I’m going to say we need a picture of the complete piece and something for scale. The picture isn’t even of the complete piece. I’m up for a challenge but c’mon Ben

    700R4 Rebuild cost

I just had the 700 rebuilt in my suburban this winter. I pulled it and installed it but the rebuild was $700 with a 2 year warranty. Over 2 grand is crazy for a rebuild. Especially if the truck is 2wd, a guy with a lift can have it out it literally an hour or two tops. Think I had mine out in 2...

What have you done to your square lately??

Where do you get your long block from? We got ours through Jegs. Warranty and all. It was rebuilt in Mexico so I’m a little nervous but hoping for the best. Nervous about breaking in the flat tapper cam because of so many problems people seem to have on the interwebs. Though, I’ve had success in...

What have you done to your square lately??

Pulled the 350 out of my dads 89 jimmy that was taking in coolant. Got a reman’d 350 for it. This weekend I’m swapping everything over to new motor along with new water pump, starter, balancer motor mounts etc etc. Dad wants headers so we’ve got a set of headman headers for it.

Do we have a show us your shop thread?

Here’s mine. It’s a garage my great grandfather built from scraps leftover from demo projects in the 40’s. Was used for our family trucking and construction business. I usually have my big rig in here but move it out when big projects come along. I’m spoiled, cement floor, heat, tools everything...

    Dual Neck air intake

I made my own from a spare air cleaner housing and duct. Cut a hole in air cleaner housing, weld spare inlet piece to housing, attach spare hose and put the adapter in the radiator support. Factory looking dual fresh air intake. Ben
