Weird level action contraption on rear brakes

It adjusts brake pressure according to load. Search LSPV, it’s been covered in quite a few threads.

    350 TBI in California

Having been a Cali smog equipment compliance inspector at one point in my life, I’d say the chances of a tech noticing the different heads are practically zero. Unless the tech happens to be a hardcore square fanatic, he probably wouldn’t know a Vortec head if you dropped it on his toes. These...

    Clearance Light Location

I'm not sure what link I posted before but I did some digging and found this thread: https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/marker-light-question%E2%80%A6.35559/ and looking around in there I found a written explanation that was posted on another site: As your looking at the roof from the front...

Load Sensing Proportioning Valve. You can enter LSPV in the search bar and it comes up in quite a few threads. That one looks like it has seen better days and should probably just be bypassed.

Anyone used the old ash tray for something (else) that's interesting?

Since this thread has been revived and the original 2013 pic died, I wanted to repost it for continuity. I should mention that nothing has been changed and I use it all the time.

1984 K30 Chevy Chassis Cab Truck One Owner only 42k Miles - $4,400 (Denver)

The ad claims 42676 miles but they're counting the tenths. It looks like the odometer has rolled over and actual miles is probably 104267.6 Still low miles, but more like 2.5 times what was claimed.

What new tools have you got lately?

A friend passed away and I ended up with a couple of his things. The genny on the left was his, but I don’t need two of them so I’ll probably sell it. The wrench set is just ridiculous. I have no need for wrenches in the 1.5”-2” range, and if I did, I sure as heck wouldn’t be using an open-end...

I need help and to know what this truck is worth

Lol, my guess is he's been trying to cut down a tree.

I need help and to know what this truck is worth

Looking at the pics, I’d say the real value there is the tree.

    Draw-Tite 41938 Hitch

My truck came with a Draw-Tite already mounted. I just looked but couldn't find any numbers stamped on it, so I don't know if it's the same as yours. Might be different because this one is on a Suburban, but it does have three bolts on each side. As far as location, they just bolted it down as...

    Truck @ The Garage Anxiety

I've had to leave my truck at my local mechanic's shop just once or twice. Fortunately, he's also a squarebody owner and gets it. When I asked if my truck would be left out overnight, he immediately replied "No way! We'll roll out one of these Toyotas or something and make room for yours." And...

    8-track player install

Nobody has mentioned yet how much space a collection of 8-tracks take up in your truck. People today can’t appreciate how easy it is to have thousands of songs at your fingertips compared to listening to the same 10 tapes over and over because they don’t have any more room to spare in the cab...

    Factory 3/4 ton wheel replacement.

The owner, Frank Mauro Jr, committed suicide in 2011. The business closed but was reopened by new owners sometime later. From what I've read, there's no custom work being done anymore and they don't respond to emails or phone calls. Might as well forget about Stockton Wheel. I hear good things...

Any value in California emissions air pump stuff

Does the pump turn by hand? They have a tendency to freeze up when they sit for a long time. Probably of no value if it’s equipment specific to Cali unless you’re willing to Ebay it back to someone who needs it there, but I’d hang on to it anyway. (and I would put the fuel evap system back on)

Any ideas what this is and why?

lol, you probably have the Cruise Sentry 1 where, after installing that module, you control the vehicle's speed with your right foot.

    Cowl hood

I don't think it would work. Besides the center seam being much more pronounced on the cowl hood making it hard to mount, the slope would have the ornament leaning forward at a weird angle. IMO, cowl OR ornament, but not both.

    Quiet muffler recommendations

Same here. Installed a Dynomax ST when I got the burb 23 years ago. Needed something quiet since any excessive noise comes up right into the passenger area. If it ever wears out I won’t hesitate to get another one.

    New Air Compressor

With an output of 31cfm@100psi, that EMAX is an absolute beast! I can see the need for it in a multi-person shop environment, but that's a lot of compressor for the average user. Mine puts out 15.8cfm@90psi, and that's just enough to keep up with my blast cabinet. With the trigger held open and...

It’s funny you say that. My previous neighbors have all had going away parties when I moved. The parties were held AFTER I left.

    New Air Compressor

Starting with the basics, air naturally contains moisture (humidity), and compressing the air squeezes out that moisture. Besides collecting in the compressor's tank, it migrates its way through the lines to your work area. Cooling the air condenses the moisture so it can be collected before it...

    New Air Compressor

Two-stage over single stage. Oil over oiless. One thing to check is what rpm they run at to achieve the rated cfm. Some run at 3450 rpm, while the better units run at 1725 rpm which makes for a much quieter compressor. Also, try to find out where the pumps are made. The HF unit I have came with...

Sac religious bench swap.. Hear me out.

Even easier with an electric carving knife. Goes through it like a lightsaber. The Mrs. didn’t like seeing hers go out to the garage so I found a used one at a thrift store for a few bucks.
