    How to achieve tighter steering?

Totally forgot about pics. Then remembered pics but not what to take them of and couldn’t find this thread. I’m old, gimme a break.

    How to achieve tighter steering?

You must have like 2” min lift to be able to run crossover. If you’re running stock (flat springs) then you also shouldn’t really have severe bump steer. Crossover isn’t going to fix any looseness in your steering. My buddy told me he checked and inspected everything but still had loose...

No Start and have adjusted switches

I’m guessing the new ignition switch isn’t set properly, so turning the key to crank isn’t pulling the rod far enough. I say this because it was working fine until you replaced the ignition switch? Also, the PN switch is built into the column. I don’t think you can even turn the key to crank...

    K5 Hydro Assist

Spend the extra time to make it all fit and clear. It’s tight in a few spots on the 10 bolt with a little over 8” stroke lock to lock. I’m very pleased with the results. I honestly feel like this would benefit any solid axle truck. Especially GM K Trucks and heavy ass diesels. Just getting...

    K5 Hydro Assist

Just finished this upgrade. I built the tie rod out of 1.5” x .250 DOM with threaded inserts and HD Tie Rods (ES2010). Got the ram kit from WTO. 1.5” ID tube clamp from Barnes. The WTO kit came with hoses, hardware, ram, weld on tabs, and fittings. I had already rebuilt and ported my...

    Disc brake conversion help.

Maybe a stock daily driver wouldn’t benefit from rear disc. For instance my 78 C10 had 29” tires and a built 383 with a 12 bolt and stock brakes. Never gave it a 2nd thought. Now, on my K5 lifted and 35s, I rebuild the drums and had them adjusted pretty tight, and still not fun to hit the brakes...

    Voltage issues

I wouldn’t suspect the shims as the bolts are making a good metal to metal path.

I also replaced the stock junction with a terminal block.

    Ignition power issues

I hate the power feed on these trucks. Too many cables going down to the starter. When I added a 2nd battery, I rewired the entire power/charging setup. Now I only have 2 wires at the starter. Battery and Crank. Alternator output goes to the battery, alternator sense goes to bulkhead. Much...

    Voltage issues

Testing the negative is the exact same as testing the positive. Polarity doesn’t matter. 0vdc is perfect. The further the reading deviates from 0vdc the worse the conductor is. I always start with both leads at the battery. Watch meter while cranking. Should not drop much below 12vdc. If good...

How to send power to window switch for testing?

I made my own relay setup. For the passenger door, you will need to run a new ground. I kept the original 12vdc.

How to send power to window switch for testing?

Breaker 11 in in the fuse block, on my 83, the pink wire comes out from the front of the block, then splits to go to the doors. This junction could cause the voltage to drop at only one door. If voltage is dropping at both doors, before the breaker, is the ignition switch on the column. That...

1986 c10 Steering column. does it matter what trans you have? going from TH350 to 4L75e

It should work. Put the trans in 1st gear, drop the shifter all the way to the bottom of its travel (1st). Then adjust and connect the linkage. I’ve done a few swaps and there was always enough travel in the column to use all the stock linkage, etc. Can swap in an OD indicator in the gauge...

    How to achieve tighter steering?

Don’t have any pics of the hitch. I’ll try to remember to take some after work. Everyone knows what crossover looks like.

    How to achieve tighter steering?

After checking/fixing and issues, then crossover steering. I also made a receiver hitch for the front of my K5. It’s handy for all receiver hitch type purposes (cargo carrier, recovery point, backing trailers into tight spots), but it also ties the two frame rails together very well to prevent...

What have you done to your square lately??

I don’t recall the Trinary switch setting but the when installing the VA, in June, in Texas (still clutch fan) I do remember the high side never getting very high at all. In fact these systems seem to run perfectly happy at very low pressures.

What have you done to your square lately??

The few times I’ve noticed the fans running on high, it was due to coolant temp as I have them set a little low. I’m not sure of the OS number but yes, recirc is set to fan 2 and I had to change the AC type to “something” cycling, then add a few pins. C2 - 17 - AC Request DI. Blue C2...

    Disc brake conversion help.

My brackets came from a seller on eBay, came with 1991 truck front rotors, Eldorado calipers, and all the hardware required. Was a pretty easy install and works great so far.

What have you done to your square lately??

That is correct. My PCM is running the express van OS and “thinks” it has control of the AC as well. AC on forced low speed, the. I use a trinary switch to hit high speed if needed. No segment swapping, or other foolery.

Finally got around to electric fans. Wired to the PCM for Low speed, High speed, and come on with the AC. So far so good. Prolly added 10 mpg and 75hp!

    Disc brake conversion help.

They do make special 3 bolt shims to space the caliper brackets. Mine came with welded on standoffs that were too tall and I had to take 1/8” off. Sounds pretty common to have to make adjustments. Don’t forget the disc/disc Prop Valve (PV4 I think). Even with 35s, my K5 would lockup the rears...

    HVAC Question

Mine was missing this canister so I made one out of a stainless float (similar to a toilet tank float) from the scrap bin at work. Welded a hose barb on it, and got a check valve Tee fitting from Vatozone. It worked beautifully. I could hold full throttle as long as needed/wanted and the air...

Oh, and 95% Nano Ceramic tint on the windshield. You don’t even know it’s there other than the amazing heat reduction. I no longer feel the sun cooking me and the dash pad. The family and I took it down to the coast over 4th of July weekend. My daughter slept in the backseat with a blanket, so...
