Hi guys,
it seems like it might make sense to change out my rear end.
How much different is a 14 bolt full floating axle with 3.73 gears and posi (which is gt4 g80 axle code) compared to my C10 12 bolt?
The 14 bolt is out of a 1989 GMC suburban c20 3/4 ton 2 wheel drive.
Is it a drop in fit...
I’m about to the point where I need to look at wheels.
I think I like the gun metal torque thrust style.
I’d really like to go 11” wide in the rear but I’ll probably go 10” to prevent any extra tub work.
Would it be weird to have 17” front and 18” rear?
I’m installing new leaf springs. The bolt that holds the leaf springs together sticks out of the nut pretty far. Because of this, the ubolt bracket won’t sit on the leaf springs.
Do I need to cut the bolt down?
I’ve got a ‘77 C10. I have the bed off and I’m rebuilding everything from the cab back right now. I have new standard leaf springs and shocks.
Is there anyone who sells adjustable stock height to 1” or 2” drop shackles?
I may want to keep it stock height or slightly drop it.
Can you drop 1”-2”...
Have any of you guys built a wood engine stand?
Does anybody have engine dimensions?
I think I just need the width of the oil pan and the dimension of the height difference between the high and low point of the oil pan.
Any ideas?
It should have some pep... we'll see.
IIRC, my pistons are L2467 flat top with valve reliefs.

So, I've got a '77 C10 Scottsdale. I have a SBC 400 (406) engine. It has aftermarket aluminum heads with square port exhaust.
I haven't lowered the truck, and don't plan on it. It's actually pretty low right now.
How do I choose performance headers?
Thanks
This is the cam I have-

My heads are threaded for 7/16 studs.
I thought I’d go with self-aligning, 7/16, 1.6, full roller rockers... they’re tough to find.
So if I use self-aligning I don't need to worry about guide plates?
I do have a cam.
What accessory brackets would cause me to not be able to run high valve covers?
Hey guys,
I've got a sbc400, punched out to 406.
I have some aluminum heads. The heads are 200/64.
How do I choose rockers? Do I need guide plates? Self-aligning?
1.5 or 1.6? Full roller rockers?
Aluminum or steel?
Any help appreciated.
