    Cooper Discoverer MTP

It is funny how many opinions there are of tires. That being said there are a lot of different conditions out there and some tires at that particular day, time, and temperature will just work better... I was almost all set to buy the Cooper STT Pros, but then found a rebate or sale on my BFG...

    Lift Blocks

With something like a 2" block your brake lines should be fine. Just get new U bolts and add the blocks.

Looking into a new compact car.

The ALH TDI was the best one by far. I had a 2000 Golf with the manual trans (automatic had problems and sucked down power and fuel efficiency). Previous owner kept a fuel log of every fillup. He encouraged me to do the same and I did. At 140,000 miles or so the fuel mileage dropped down to...

    Dream truck, shes a wheeler

Do you have any pictures of your doubler transfer case setup? I'm looking into the Magnum/205 option which should look very similar to the 203/205 doubler. Did you install it yourself? If so what transfer case did you have previously? What did you do with the crossmembers? Move one and added a...

72-older SBC ram horn manifolds on a 73-up?

They were the larger 2.5" ramhorns. They were tested on a chevy small block, wasn't stock but had a mild build to it. Not sure what the displacement was.

72-older SBC ram horn manifolds on a 73-up?

When I was doing research on mine I had found some actual dyno runs between full length headers and the ramhorns. They were very very similar in power until the upper RPMs (5,000 RPM+) Then full headers are better. I can no longer find that page. But with my 400 and now my 383 there is no "high...

    NP203... no 4 wheel drive

The junk yard did have a NP205 there- but they want $300 for it and it has the wrong input splines as it was for a manual trans. They said the transfer case needs to be rebuilt also as when you spin it by hand it isn't smooth. A new input shaft is $150 plus shipping. I did find another 205 that...

    NP203... no 4 wheel drive

Another small sad update. Shop said it would cost around $900 to rebuild my existing transfer case- and will probably take a month or two. Parts are hard to come by/backordered. So I did stupid option #2- I bought a used full time case at a junkyard today ($225). They do offer a 30 day...

72-older SBC ram horn manifolds on a 73-up?

I bought some 2.5" center dump manifolds 8 years ago for my 400. The exhaust shop said there was a slight clearance issue on the driver side with the manifold and the clamshell. They cut out part of the clamshell and welded on it underneath to strengthen it back up. The 400 was then replaced...

Does this look correct to everyone??

You have an awesome clean platform going there and I think you will be very happy with their stuff. The ride quality on it will be great. Do you have a build thread going for it?

Does this look correct to everyone??

If you get the "short" shackles they would provide 0.25" of lift. If you get the long shackle then it would lift by 1.25" And if you are going to put in an order I'd go ahead and get those axle relocation plates. They are pretty cheap. And moving the rear axle back a bit will help with your...

Does this look correct to everyone??

Since I'm using stock 56" springs ORD told me that my shackle angle will be a bit farther back as the flat spring pack can't get much longer. But with the shackle leaning back then it allows a lot more droop when needed. And these greasable bushings make sure that spring movement is unhindered.

Does this look correct to everyone??

It is definitely better than your first post- but still looks a little odd. Having more weight might make the spring pack flatten out and get "longer". Then as the spring pack settles a bit some of the arch will go away. ORD talked about spring packs that have a lot of arch to them and the...

    NP203... no 4 wheel drive

The issue I have had for a long time is both the NP203 and the 205 do not have a low enough gear reduction ratio for me. So putting in a 205 that I don't own then re-doing both driveshafts gets me to a more robust unit that still doesn't have a low enough range for me. You can do a "doubler"...

    NP203... no 4 wheel drive

Small update here- I've been busy traveling so I dropped off the truck last week at a shop I've never been to. My main mechanic friend retired and recommended the place. They also specialize in aftermarket offroad stuff- so they liked my truck instead of laughing at it. The chain snapped. And I...

Does this look correct to everyone??

I used the same holes as the stock 52" spring hangers. The ORD design spring hangers are universal- meaning using those same 52" holes you can then run either spring length depending on where the offset is on the hanger. Having the shackle flipped around will give you a much better ride. I'd...

Does this look correct to everyone??

My truck came with 52" springs and I replaced them with a brand new stock 56" spring with almost the same weight capacity and the truck rides much better. I used a 2.5" shackle flip from ORD. This moved my axle notecably forward. I didn't like how it looked so I used their 1/4" thick axle...

Does this look correct to everyone??

Those hanger brackets have an offset to them. If you swap the passenger side and driver side it should work. Several different companies make those brackets- if you mount them they way you did you can run 56" springs. Mount them the other way then they are for 52" springs. At least from...

    37x12.50r15!?!?

I think nowadays you will be limited to super swampers (IROK radial, trxus, TSL) or the maxis creepy crawler tires.

    DISC BRAKE COVERSION

I did a rear brake conversion on my K20. My rear drums had filled up with mud a few times from water crossings, and since I don't have a good crawl ratio some of the trails I went down I had to ride the brake the whole time. Once drums get hot they won't cool down for a long time. Disc brakes...

Snow wheeling. Now I want to re-configure...

Well- I was all excited about 3 weeks ago- met the offroad guys to head up to the top of some mountains to find snow. Got to a small field where we air down the tires and I found out my 4wd was no longer working. While driving down the highway a large clunk/bang was heard and my NP203 shift...

    Optima Batteries worth the cost?

Amazing how everyone seems to have different experiences. My dad used to be a big diehard battery guy. They failed him twice on different vehicles so then he switched to redtop optimas about 20 years ago and talked me into it at the same time. In 20 years he has only had 2 optima batteries on...

    Selling My Sidekick

Nonstop- you just made me very very sad... I *just* spent $5,050 to pay off my wife's car early. :( Was that a wise decision? Some would say so, but I'm kicking myself. That is a great truck.

    Smaller steering wheel

Apparently I don't have pics of my wheel... but I was inspired to buy that wheel based on @WillSquared and his pictures: It is a smaller wheel based on what Animal was talking about above- a 60's Corvette.

    Yukon Posi vs Detroit TruTrack

Since I'm running a D44 in the front any sort of locker would just be asking for trouble. So that is why I put in a truetrac. It will allow a difference in tire speed as traction is found or lost. Also can always steer. A lot of my offroading is on snow. Lockers make life difficult on off camber...
