    Broken valve guide boss/pillar

It looks like it's part of the cast iron structure itself. I know the valve guides themselves are pressed in, but that extrusion that the valve seal slips over is broken off and that's what I'm worried about

    Broken valve guide boss/pillar

I know I’m going to need to get some machine shop work done on these heads I just snagged, but can they repair this valve guide boss/pillar that broke off? Or is there a way I could use a different seal for just this one valve?

    Colorado K30 ownership

So would I just need to retard timing and lean out the carb every year when I get tested?

    Colorado K30 ownership

Question for the Colorado folks on here: I'm currently daily driving my k30 here in Texas. Registration and inspection is easy and I don't think I get tested for emissions or anything, it's not registered as a classic or antique or anything. Is there anything I need to know before I move and...

    Ls Swap Checklist

Still haven't quite figured it out. I ended up putting the engine on a stand for the time being because I want to swap camshafts before the engine goes in the truck. plus this gives me an excuse to meticulously go through the wiring harness and label everything. I think I'll end up going with a...

    6.5" speaker mounting options

I'm in the process of re-doing the sound system in my crew cab and I was wondering where yall mounted 6.5" speakers. For reference, the truck came with a 4 channel amp and 2 10" powered subs. The amp was connected to 4 6.5" speakers and all of it was mounted behind the rear seat and wasn't done...

    Ls Swap Checklist

I guess another question I have is, I have two options right now that I've sourced from pick n pulls. One has the complete combo minus wiring harness and pcm/tcm. the other has complete pcm/tcm. both are 2wd transmissions (so I'm assuming I'll need a 4x4 tailhousing). If I went with the combo...

    Ls Swap Checklist

I'll probably end up going with some dakota digital gauges From what I've read, the 4L80e tailshaft is too long and you need a spacer to make up that difference or cut the tailshaft down.

    Ls Swap Checklist

LS Swap gurus, I'm getting pretty close to pulling the trigger on a 6.0/4l80e combo, but I want to make sure I've got my ducks in a row before I get in over my head Assumptions: 1. using stock pcm/tcm & wiring harness 2. engine and trans are running when pulled 3. comes with all accessories 4...

    Adding a Suburban Gas tank

Hell yeah, thanks Yes, but I'd like to keep an auto trans and for my needs, diesel would be cost prohibitive. I'm also not stuck on LS, I'd consider an 8.1 or possibly even a gen 6 454/4L80e if i came across one in decent condition for cheap. MPG isn't my main concern because I know I'm not...

    Adding a Suburban Gas tank

Ok, so here's a question I've been floating around in my head. I've got the dual 20 gallon saddle tanks on my truck and while I'm currently getting a whopping 10mpg (LS swap in the future to hopefully raise that a bit), I'd like to add some fuel capacity for the time being. I'm going to be...

    Highliner in a crew cab?

Anyone put a highliner in a crew cab? I'm looking to get a little better audio quality and the dash speakers aren't doing it for me. I've got 4 speakers and 2 small powered subs behind the back seat but I want something better for the front of the cab. I'm also wondering if maybe adding a...

Quadrajet from hell will not give me peace

Ok, well i was able to tear the carb apart last night and i guess it was a user error. the bushings I installed for the secondaries were way too tight. I was able to drill them out enough to where the shaft was able to move freely without any play and with the spring installed, the blades could...

Quadrajet from hell will not give me peace

not sure about seating throttle plates in bores. fast idle cam is down, no vac leaks, gaskets matched the old ones I took out. I don't think the shaft has a twist in it. it went in the same way it came out

Quadrajet from hell will not give me peace

So I recently rebuilt my q jet, mostly to do throttle shaft bushings, but also just to give myself peace of mind that everything was actually done right when I rebuilt it the first time. Well now it's worse, and I'm not ruling out rebuilder error on my part, I just don't even know what's going...

    Quadrajet question

I'll try that. No EGR, but it does have the charcoal cannister and the PCV valve does rattle so that may be my culprit

    Power steering pump recommendation

Any recommendations on a quality PS pump for a 454 truck with hydroboost brakes? My current one just started leaking and its only 3-4 months old (ordered from rockauto). This is the second leaking PS pump I've had since I bought the truck and I've verified its coming from the pump body and not...

    Quadrajet question

Vacuum advance canister is brand new. still the same issues when I disconnect vac advance, just at a lower idle rpm due to timing retardation. I think it may be throttle bushings though, I'll going to check when I get home. I already ordered a "new" quadrajet from SMI for peace of mind plus I...

    Quadrajet question

Its the stock fuel pump driven off the cam, using regular 87 octane pump gas. Not sure about volume or pressure. I don't think it's the original carb. The number on the side is 17080512 which tells me its from a 1980 my truck and mine's an 85. I don't think its running out of fuel though...
