    1994 Dodge Ram Van 350

Thanks, I kind of hate showing pictures of her dirty and full of junk, it's actually a really nice van. But at least showing pics like this ya'll can see before and after shots.

    1994 Dodge Ram Van 350

Ok I've got some crappy photos of the van still in his building. I've cleared a path to the exit door and backed the rear end up to that door and let it run for a while to warm up, and then dumped the oil and installed a new filter. Looks like it leaked a bunch of tranny fluid out of the...

    1994 Dodge Ram Van 350

@Grit dog that's my thinking. According to enginefacts.com a 1984 Chevrolet 305 LG4, which is the engine in my truck, produced: Horsepower: 170 @ 4200 rpm Torque: 250 @ 3200 rpm It's actually pretty impressive that 170 HP engine coupled to 3.41 gears can haul a 7,000LBS worth of loaded trailer...

    1994 Dodge Ram Van 350

After a conversation with my friend it appears I was the last person to drive the van was me, but it was in 2011. I had forgotten that trip. I had about a little time after I'd done my farm work, since his place is only about 1/2 a mile away I figured I'd see what I could even though it was...

    Help with Windshield Wiper Blades

I cheat and get them from a wholesale supplier. As I wrote that I wasn't sure if they were available retail, but at least anyone can get them online.

    Help with Windshield Wiper Blades

If you want an all metal traditional frame style look for Bosch direct connect. All metal frame and has the pin style hook up built in. That little connector is plastic but I've never had one fail. If you want a beam blade style then look for Bosch Clear advantage, which also has the pin...

    1994 Dodge Ram Van 350

@bucket I thought you might be into it, since your a van guy even if it's Dodge. I've been a van guy since I was young, but the vans slowly gave out to pickups in my life. So it will be really fun for me to have a van back in my life. I previously owned a 73' Dodge sportsman, and before that...

    1994 Dodge Ram Van 350

Well I was just gifted with another vehicle! However this one has been sitting. Let me tell you about it. It was owned by a friend of mine. He bought it used in the late 90's and used it regularly about once a week for a few years, and then tapered off. I have driven this van personally and...

    Carburetor on my 82' C20

It's always preferred that the existing carburetor be rebuilt vs replaced, as there were a lot of variations. The best case I think, if you still have your old carburetor is to have it rebuilt, and remove the one you installed. With that said it is totally possible that the one you installed...

    Random Service Engine Soon light

I agree with what others have said, knock sensor is the likely culprit. I disagree with that entirely. If the knock sensor has to be disconnected for the truck to run properly something is wrong. See my response to GM below. That's exactly right, and on the highway at decent RPM even with a...

    Carb Swap?

National is good stuff. There are no carb shops left in my area, I'm good at doing them and know the Q-jet pretty well but if a carb has bad throttle plate bushings, I have no way to fix that, so that is when we call National Carburetor. Or sometimes O'Reilly's as O'Reilly's is a distributor...

1982 GMC - What do I have? What can I tow?

Yes, if you want to be sure it's a one ton this would be an easy way to verify. You never know what might have gone on in the past. If it's got a 3/4 ton frame and someone swapped that axle in I personally do not think that would prevent it from being able to tow, 10K but it certainly would be...

@idahovette I drew the line on a white Buick with what appeared to be used condoms on the passenger floor. Nope not even pulling that in the shop....

    My unique factory 1986

I can't help with the OP's question, but I do want to say to you Jay, that I like your profile pic, even if my favorite character isn't in the pic. That would be Jim Lahey of course!

Why is my fresh rebuild smoking

I'll give my opinion on it. Yes it does but not the same. I'd say it is less sweet smelling when burned. I'm not really sure about like the german and asian blue. But global and dexcool do smell sweet when burned, it's just different.

1982 GMC - What do I have? What can I tow?

Does the vin code in the glove box match the one in the front windshied and the one on the D/S door or on the title? Start with all that. If the vin on the title doesn't match any of them you have a bigger problem. Also on the drivers door there should be a label with weight ratings. I'm not...

    Fresh oil

I use to work at a shop that EVERY vehicle that came into the shop got it's front windshield washed, and at least the front carpet vacuumed and dash board wiped down. No matter how bad it was inside. The company called it "clean & vac service N/C" Anyhow a couple of times a year at least we'd...

The wisest way to modernize a C20

Yea, that's how I always felt. I wanted to put one on my prior truck but the basic ones at the time (early 2000's) were around $1K that plus the time involved kept me from ever doing it. My square you may have read the story before, the PO was a friend of mine, we drifted apart, I learn he...

Why is my fresh rebuild smoking

Well if it's coming out the tailpipe like that I'd pull the spark plugs out. I'd probably run the truck for 5 mins or so, then shut it off and pull the plugs. If it's oil the cylinder with the problem will have oil all over the plug and likely be black. If it's coolant then, the plug will...

The wisest way to modernize a C20

Ya, I thought about doing the rear tank thing before I installed the second saddle. I thought it would have been cool to mount tool boxes to the frame, cut the bed so you'd have access to the boxes even with the bed closed, but I'd never be able to do the cut the bed part and make it look good...

The wisest way to modernize a C20

Then I had to go and put dual exhaust on the truck. As you'll see in a moment the passenger side muffler is just a few inches below the tank and pump assembly, so I had to put a heat shield in there. As a side benefit exhaust differential and fuel tank work is super easy. I can pop a my...

The wisest way to modernize a C20

Hinge / Ram top mount to bed. Notice how it mounts to a box frame which puts the upward pressure on two of the beds cross members. Bed hinge LR Bed hinge RR Pump and tank unit. This unit started out on the outside of the frame. When I got the truck and started running it around doing...

The wisest way to modernize a C20

@Camar068 & the other folk interested here are the pics of the dump bed. This is going to take multiple posts, While I doubt this is a modernization modification it is certainly the best modification on the truck. Ok so lets start with just looking at the truck. Looks pretty normal no? BTW...
