Can you run a 700r4 WITHOUT electrical connection?

No vacuum lines I can see, but there is a fitting on the very top with a hose that hung over the side that’s connected to nothing. Figured it was a vent??? Seen in the pics above.

Can you run a 700r4 WITHOUT electrical connection?

Will a non lockup converter work in this type of trans and basically render the lockup system useless/unneeded??

Can you run a 700r4 WITHOUT electrical connection?

Well got it out. K case. First digit is a 2, which indicates either a ‘92 or ‘93, depending on which site I look at. And a 4 pin connector on the DS which looks like it hasn’t been used for years.

Can you run a 700r4 WITHOUT electrical connection?

Truck is titled as an 84. Old guy I bought it from used various year components to build it. Don’t know the exact year of the cab and its wiring harness. 84 K10 350 with 700r4 and NP208

Can you run a 700r4 WITHOUT electrical connection?

Thought I found the connector, but it’s different than the one on the transmission. Trans has the four pin connector. This look familiar to anyone? Can’t see it in my Haynes manual.

Can you run a 700r4 WITHOUT electrical connection?

Yes there is wiring inside the trans and perhaps a solenoid near the converter above the filter. Just no wiring from the truck to the trans itself. Gary

Can you run a 700r4 WITHOUT electrical connection?

Took the pan off my 700r4 to drain the oil before I wrestle it to the ground. Noticed wiring inside the transmission, but no wiring Goin to the trans. Found the empty connection on the drivers side. No plug in sight. I’m assuming this is for a lockup converter?? The converter is blue, with...

    Aftermarket 700r4 sources.

So i luckily found a guy who’s been building GM transmissions and racing for years so I’m going to give him a try. Spoke with him briefly last night and he seems to know what he’s talking about lol. Familiar with upgrades/improvements that I’ve been reading about. Quoted $1000 Canadian (about...

    Aftermarket 700r4 sources.

Anyone have good experiences with online purchases of 700r4s?? 4x4 variety. Broad question I know but….. I may be SOL locally getting mine rebuilt, so May have no other choice but to order one. Close to the east coast would be great to keep the shipping costs down. I’m in eastern Canada so...

    Any diff between 2wd and 4wd 700r4s?

Ok thanks, I believe ya. Too good of a deal for me. $50. He just wants it out of his way. Time to research and see if there’s a 5 speed manual conversion that will work with little to no headaches. If there is such a thing. Gary

    Any diff between 2wd and 4wd 700r4s?

So, looks like my 700r4 is on the way out. Slipping like crazy in 3 and overdrive. Had to limp it home in 2nd gear. Fluid smells not good, but not low. I was thinking time to go manual, but looks too involved. Not sure just yet. Anyhow just found a local guy selling a 700r4 that he had for a...

door lock cylinder not working on passenger side

And mine are NOT power locks. I was wondering if the mechanisms were different with power or manual locks.

door lock cylinder not working on passenger side

Yeah I’m not sure what’s going on with mine. I had no keys when I bought mine. Bought a set of door lock tumblers. Both looked identical when I got them. Same as the originals. Swapped them out, pass side wouldn’t work, behaving EXACTLY as OP stated above. Decided to swap them side to...

Folding lumber rack into something similar to a soft topper

I think your design is fine. Definitely not lumber though. And personally, I’d use round tubing if you’re not already invested in square. Easier to roll up if you do that, and easier on the canvas. Codfish

    the new project

Yes, sorry about your friend. Looks like a nice rig. Just do what you can as time and money allows. Start with the most basic repairs to get it safely on the road again, and enjoy it in his memory. You may want to keep it as is, or go full tilt with it. Keep us posted with the progress...

    Flickering headlights issue

84 K10 Dimmer switch on column I haven't driven the truck much at night yet, but it's soon to become my daily driver, so that will change. The 3 or 4 times I have driven it after dark, I've had a headlight issue. As far as I can remember, low beam is fine if I don't use high beam.. 90%...

Seriously?? Don’t recall reading that.. But the cardboard ON the rad did bring it up to 170*. So it did get some “schoolin “ this morning. Gary

    Engine too cold for sniper??

Ya I’m driving it. It’ll come up to temp in the garage, but cools down as soon as I start driving. I guess the cooling system is doing its job. I’m gonna take the cardboard off the grill this morning and put it it directly on the rad. And yes it’s cold ish here. 31 Fahrenheit give or take.

The sniper sensor is in the driver’s side head. Stock sender in the thermostat housing.

    Engine too cold for sniper??

Clutch. By locked up do you mean like a fixed fan? I don’t believe so. I can move it when it’s not running I’m pretty sure. I’ll have to check that out as well just in case something changed.
