    I’m so smart

No. I’m the only person I know who is daft enough to express their love for disco music by embracing it as a nickname. Lol

    I’m so smart

I’ll have to take a picture of my backing plate. This was going to be my next question anyway. I’m pretty sure my drums have no inspection hole in them, and I don’t believe my backing plate does, either. I don’t remember seeing anything that resembles an inspection hole at all, which has been...

    I’m so smart

Yeah, I’m not sure what this thing is. I have 4 of them. They came with both the brake hardware kit (x2) and with each self-adjuster hardware kit.

A metal plug? Odd. Also, I don’t have an inspection hole in my backing plate. Maybe there’s one in the drum?

    I’m so smart

Also, could someone tell me where this goes? There isn’t one on the old hardware.

    I’m so smart

Hey. So dum-dum here started a brake job in MARCH, and due to needing to order more parts, a very busy second half of a semester after spring break, and an excruciatingly hot summer, I’m only just now getting back to it. I left everything organized, but I’m second guessing myself and how all...

    Dual tank question

I get you. I am not necessarily above dealing with inconvenience. Otherwise I would have gotten something new with an automatic transmission and air conditioning. I’m just planning ahead, weighing my options, because eventually (probably sooner than later) that valve will stop switching tanks...

    Dual tank question

My guess is if my truck had a charcoal canister (which I assume it did from the factory, mounted to the top of the inner fender beside the washer fluid reservoir), the original owner deleted it a long time ago, along with the frame mounted lines and the canister mounting bracket.

    Dual tank question

I just went out to the truck and looked. Sure enough, there are no lines or canisters on my frame rails. I don’t even see evidence there was ever any mounting brackets or anything. The only things near my steering box are my power steering lines from the pump to the box and the brake...

    Dual tank question

I’m not sure how this works as a replacement for the electronic selector valve. As far as my vapor lines go, they appear to just be attached to the filler neck. Please explain. I wasn’t even aware of the Big 10 sub-model before I bought this truck. But I assure you it has the F44 RPO code and a...

    Dual tank question

No, she’s a six foot bed SWB. I’m stuck with my dual 16 gallon tanks - unless I add one of those in-bed auxiliary tanks, which is unnecessary. 32 gallons with these gas prices is plenty. Lol

    Dual tank question

Yeah, I guess drawing from both tanks is like that “two straws” experiment (put one straw in a glass of water, leave the other out, try to draw through both at the same time). It’s good ol’ physics and the “path of least resistance” again. It’s easier to pull air than fuel, so if one tank goes...

    Dual tank question

It is a 78, and it does not have return lines. It’s a pirate truck: “take what you can, give nothing back.”

    Dual tank question

Ah. Yep, that makes sense… had not considered the one dry tank. Ok, well I guess I won’t do that. Lol

    Twin Fuel Tank Idea

Ok, late to the party here, but I just posed my own dual tank idea and saw this afterward. I was a OTR trucker for 8.5 years and a little over a million miles. Most OTR big rigs have dual saddle tanks (my last two trucks had twin 150 gallon tanks) and do almost exactly what you suggest. The...

    Dual tank question

Hey all. So, I’m just curious and thought I’d spitball this here. My Big 10 has dual 16 gallon tanks and also has the factory selector switch which still works, if you can believe that. However, I’m well aware that that is a thing that will probably not last long. I don’t really want to screw...

This made me chuckle. It’s a… unique rig, to say the least. I bet it gets plenty of attention at shows…

This is my last post on the matter. I’m talking about how even after I’ve pointed out that while I understand the reasons for the concern, I disagree with them, and I was only looking for a yes or no answer in the first place. However, nearly everyone who has posted to this thread wants to beat...

Seat covers, looking for recommendations - later in the thread reports on how my cover is holding up

This is a hell of a lot better than the so-called universal two-piece saddle blanket cover I got from O’Reilly that does not fit the bench and has only 4 thin, cheap ties per part. Lol

Cool story (you asked for the sarcasm)! Three things: 1) for this to apply to me, my truck would have to go to a shop. 2) this could have happened in ANY of the multitudes of vehicles that did not come equipped with a clutch switch in the first place. 3) someone didn’t do their job. Why were the...

There’s probably more than a dozen bolts holding the front clip to the frame and cab, too. But if I Had to choose which vehicle to be in a wreck with, I’d choose the Volkswagen with the crumple zones and the airbags. Everyone freaking out about the safety concerns of bypassing the clutch switch...

I don’t have a problem with them either. I’d put up with it (just like I do in my Jetta) if it hadn’t gone kerplewy on me. I’m just not so married to it to tear the dash apart to find where it belongs, where I’ll likely break other bits of brittle, aging plastic I’d rather not replace right now...

Moot point, no cruise control. It’s one of the few things not spec’d on this C10 Silverado. Cruise and A/C.
