Time to put a sound system in the hotrod, wanna bounce some ideas

I got the itch to improve my system and this thread isn't helping matters. For the high end setup I have, I'm not happy with it. The fact is these trucks SUCK for acoustics. Biggest issue is mounting locations and trying to keep a stock looking interior. My comments are directed to the 10% of us...

    454 w/ NV4500

The NV4500 will have no problem with the weight. Not knowing the status of it (newly rebuilt/ needs rebuilt/etc.) you will want to address the 5th gear nut issue. The issue of it backing off is most prominent in towing situations. There are solutions but don't ignore it.

    Oil dripping around starter

I had the exact same issue when I bought my truck. It had a brand new GM crate motor in it with an Edelbrock manifold and carb which I assume the PO installed. It was the China wall that was leaking. Ran down the seam of the block/bell housing straight into the starter motor. You would swear the...

Manual windows never fail. Even better, it leaves more room in the doors for speakers!

We're good. Maybe my brain just suffered a neuron misfire reading your post. If you're for VA, I like you. I respect your experience. I also have a robust background in AC systems. It gets hot here you know? Oh wait, your in Texas, you probably know. Sorry if I sounded like a knuckle head. Carry on

Fair enough, I'll meet you in the middle. 3 to be exact. What's your beef with VA? If I do want to argue why are you the wrong candidate? Are you a Jake Paul or Chuck Norris in disguise?

Need to fix noisy ring and pinion.

Swap in a NV4500 trans. It'll drown out the rearend noise.

    Factory A/C Conversion for '86

Darn! I recently threw my entire factory setup in the dumpster. Was tired of looking at it sitting in the garage thinking I would sell it some day. I remember the day a few summers back when I pulled every last bit of the 45 year old cracked, broken, brittle, slow, sticky OEM POS out......and...

Ummm. I have the surefit system and it's not universal. I ordered it online. The only "custom" thing was indexing the fittings on the hoses when crimping to avoid tension.

Why would anybody want a split bench? If you don't like a bench, put buckets in it and be done.

    Craziest antitheft idea yet.

That's exactly what I have always thought about doing. The last thing a thief wants while stealing is drawing attention to themselves. It's counter intuitive and simple.

Driving K20 without the rear driveshaft?

It is a fluid seal but the level of the fluid is below the seal. Whatever leaks out is just a portion of what gets "flung" into the rear housing area of the t-case. You would be ok to seal it with a bag and zipties for a short drive. I had a similar issue but I have a 205 with a fixed output...
