Is there a way to install a 81-87 bumper on a 73-80 frame

The frame horns are made different 73-80 & 81-91. The diagonal brace from the frame to the bumper is the biggest difference. 73-80 have only one bolt on each end whereas 81-91 have 2 on each. The end of the bumper will be extremely close to the fender when mounting a newer bumper on a 73-80...

85 grille to 82 grille swap questions

I clicked on a link that you had posted (I think) and saw the showroom and vehicles along with wall art. I'll have to go online and check this out. I've not done any major work that last year due to my health but I have a yard full of back-log that includes replacing floors and body panels. I'm...

    New guy from North California

Welcome from the Tarheel State. I have yet to make it to Cal but I definitely want to see those giant Redwoods, Sequoia and Douglas Firs while I'm healthy and able. I used a Skyjacker 3.5 lift on an '85 CUCV a few years back and was satisfied with the ride and flex. Good luck with the build and...

85 grille to 82 grille swap questions

Yeah, when you replied I thought "he didn't specify GMC or not". I have been rebuilding the one from my 82 K1500 and the GMC immediately came to mind when I saw the post. I didn't realize that AMD offered more than body panels. I'll have to check into that. HS

Welcome from the Tarheel State. 17 years old with willingness to graduate & enlist, you're quite different than most young people. Owning & rebuilding a Square at that age is definitely different from the norm.

    New here Tranny swap question.

The 77 is mechanical release where an 88 would be hydro. Use all the pedal assy & z-bar stuff on the 88. Driveshafts will differ & you'll run into a few other small issues...but it's very doable. HS
