    I cruise at 80 mph on the freeway which is 3000 rpm atm, use to be 3500 with my 3.73s. I know it's abit high for regular abuse but it feels happy to me. My engine is a 454 with a 218/228 cam, large oval heads, headers and edelbrock performer intake. I have alot of fun with it

    Aren't those rectangular port heads? If so I'd suggest sticking with your 781s. Rectangular ports will kill your low end torque. Less your gonna build an RPM screamer I think oval ports will give you the best overall performance. Also it sounds like you may have to drill holes to run gen 5 heads...

    Actually would take slightly less rpm than the th400 since you wouldn't have any converter slippage.

    My old speedo did the same thing. I swapped it for a 100 mph speedo and it got alot closer (my tires are throwing it off a touch). If it's the same amount off at any speed I think it's the speedo, not the ratios

    I'm alittle confused why you would need a printed circuit for an aftermarket tach, to my knowledge you only need 3 wires. Power on key turn, ground, and the signal wire to distributor.

    I have a tach circuit back home, I can take some pictures for you tomorrow if that would help. I rewired my cluster using it as a template and it turned out alright, but it does take patience.

I regularly have elevation changes of 3000 ft and it doesn't care, cold starts just fine (and it's cold here, gotten down to -30) without the factory hot air riser and block off plate in my edelbrock...

    So last year I bought a longbed stepside from a guy on Craigslist. Was a really cool older guy with tons of cool stuff, anyway he threw in a 100 mph speedo, tach and volt gauge cluster for nothing. Works great, actually more accurate than my original. Needless to say I felt very lucky that day!
