    No fuel pressure

It is possible for a relay to pass 12V but no current to speak of, but if that happens, you wouldn't see 12v when connected to a load like the pump. When you say the pump has 12v, do you mean the connector when you unplug it, or can you probe the terminals with it plugged in and confirm that you...

Do I replace the '87 fuel tank that's on my 73 C10 (that has an 81 engine / drivetrain)?

You would just get an 87 sending unit with the pump. Power from the factory comes from ECU, through some safety switches, etc but could be done "Close enough" with a relay on the ignition circuit so you have power to the pump any time key is on. Install a regulator somewhere reasonable and plumb...

    Electric fan resistance?

Ohms were measured without power applied, directly on the terminals of the fan motor. I rechecked and rechecked, and ended up with 0.1 ohms on high sped circuit and 0.3 ohms on the low speed. Still seems wrong to me, but I don't know for sure. Apparently before I was not testing right, this time...

    Electric fan resistance?

I know it should be low ohms on the motor, my good motor is around 2 for high speed. But this one is 0.0 ohms once it settles out. I can't see how that's right, but I can't see how it would work with 0 ohm, which is why I'm so screwed up on this one...

How do you feel about this?

(No input on the issue at hand, but...) I guess someone took it literally when a buddy said "Nah, you don't need a full rebuild. Just throw a new set of bearings in the bottom end and you'll be fine!"

    Electric fan resistance?

I've got a DD 2004 Saturn VUE with the 2.2 and 5 speed stick. At idle, with AC on especially, it dims the lights and almost stalls out when the electric fan kicks on. It's a single fan, single speed (although the fan itself has 3 prongs, the harness only feeds it 2 wires). Fan seems to work...

    AC Compressor Question

Make sure the clutch doesn't engage and you should be fine. without the clutch engaged, it is essentially an idler pulley anyway.

    Ls swap or not?

I think you have your answer then: Buy a second truck (Blazer, Suburban?) for the LS swap and the family, and turbo the 6.2 in your truck to keep the mileage and gain the power. All problems solved, except the credit card bill :)

    Ls swap or not?

I plan on an LS swap and have done it before, but I'd say add a turbo instead to your diesel. I think the 6.2 is cool, especially in a setup like you have. Just do some updating to the later 6.5 parts and/or find a Banks kit?

Do I replace the '87 fuel tank that's on my 73 C10 (that has an 81 engine / drivetrain)?

Just throwing another option, if you have any fuel pump issues at all, you could run the 87+ sender with a TBI pump and a standalone bypass regulator to knock the pressure down to the right level. Not the cheapest, but if you have fuel pump issues otherwise, now would be the time to kill 2...

    Power tool storage

Probably not what you are looking for, but might be an option if you need to be able to get some of each at a glance... I put up some in my shop and so far, so good. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BKFQ377W/

    305 to 5.3

Possible PS hoses from the old setup, otherwise all accessories should be from the new 5.3. Possibly keep your fan shroud, depending on how you do it. x4 on the TV adjustment, you can cook the 700-R4 pretty easy. Don't know what you have for existing carb, but you might be able to drop it on...

    3rd row seat 89 suburban

That makes sense. Do the shoulder belts come with the seat? I believe on my 87 there's the boss for the shoulder belt up there (I'd have to check).

    Burb 3rd Row Seat

mounts are different for sure, but you can buy aftermarket mounts to drill and bolt in the older burbs for reasonable ($40?). You can also scrounge the factory brackets from a yard, might need some extra washers to stack the heights right, depending on exact placement.

Suburban Rear AC not circulating refrigerant

No direct experience on the rear evap, but I'm familiar with the layout etc. Any chance the cap tube is kinked anywhere? that could cause it to keep the valve in the closed position. If you gave it a good flush etc, I wouldn't expect trash to have plugged it but it could happen. Blockage is the...

    3rd row seat 89 suburban

No problem, I understand. I might still be interested, but it would be a few weeks before I could get away (work travel and vacation time etc.). Weird question, but what seat belt end is attached to the seat for the driver and passenger side seats? I assumed that it would be conventional where...

Air Conditioning leak checking / finding information sharing thread

Yep, 100% not a drop in and I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TRY IT. That said, I don't think 1-2 lbs in a garage would cause a problem any more than 20 gallons of gasoline would. Or more than the 6 pack of coleman propane cylinders in the camping gear in the garage, or the multitude of other...

    Kill Switch - once again

Just another idea, semi on topic. On a different forum, there was a car with a floor dimmer switch set up as an ignition passthrough (or other kill switch setup). Actual dimmer function was in the column, but trucks of our vintage could easily have the floor switch, and the majority of the...

How much does tire size effect speedometer?

The tire diameter ratio will be the speedometer error ratio, if you want to think of it that way. The math can be a little more complicated, but for normal ranges we're dealing with, going from a 30" tire to a 33" tire will be a 10% increase on diameter (3" is 10% of 30"), and a 10% increase on...

    LS Fuel Pressure

Good deal. I had a coworker who did an EFI conversion on his mustang. Ran great, for about 30 minutes at a time, then started running lean and eventually died. A few hours later it would be fine, but do it all over again. It was a head scratcher for weeks, I think he replaced the fuel pump a...

    Kill Switch - once again

Someone with more experience could jump in, but I'd think if you have a Single Pole Double Throw (SPDT) switch, have your incoming ignition wire feed the "Battery" terminal, position 1 gets the other side of the ignition circuit, and position 2 goes to the hot trigger of a relay. Then have...

    LS Fuel Pressure

Welp, I'd say that counts as stock... FWIW, it isn't uncommon for even stock setups to be 10% off, although my experience is that it usually is trending lean and forcing more fuel to be added. Dirty MAF allows more air that isn't detected, dirty injectors allow less fuel than what the computer...
