I have the smaller newer vortec starter, and when I bought it it was because hear from long tubes killed my old one. I wrapped it with the heat blanket thing last year and have never looked back. Zero problems
I just went through this yesterday. Like said above, you can remove the door Latch assembly to get it closer up, but all I did once I got the rod back in, was put a glob of ultra grey rtv on it and let it dry. It will be there till the end of time
Does anyone have a known good part number for the correct orifice tube for our trucks? I redid the system on my brothers truck but broke two orifice tubes from orreillys trying to get them in. Old one came out fine, albeit dirty as hell
Nice truck and center console. A quick fix that doesn't cost anything is to loosen the cab mounts, jack the cab up with a jack and block of wood and put washers between the top of eve mount, and the bottom of the cab. That will bring your lines back up and can be done in an hour
I too have that same radiator. Even before I installed electric fans, the engine never rose in temp. And I tow every weekend. I e also got the tru cool 40k trans cooler online with it.
I also have one of those license plate steps if anyone wants to snatch it up
Well last night into today I took the time to disassemble everything and try the proper torque and sequence. I took your instructions and turns out they weren't far off, book says 30 lbs on bottom nut, then 50 on sleeve, then 100 on top castle nut, then 70 on the lower nut. I did that on both...
I'm gonna have to do the shaft. I replaced upper and lower balljoints, rag joint, drag links, tie rod ends and I just finished up yesterday my lead spring bushings and a new steering gear box. Still feels like a boat like you said. I'm disappointed.
Mine is a stock bore. Flat top dual valve relief Pistons. Vortec heads. This cam. Electric fans took a HUGE amount of strain off the engine.

Quadrajet worked over. Long tube headers. No cats, super 44 flows.
The cam makes great low end power...
Ok, so basically the sequence of the torquing matters. So bottom nut, then the castle sleeve which is the sleeve that screws into the spindle? So you torque that with the balljoint stud already in the spindle? And then the top nut.
Ive read that the adjusting sleeve in the spindle doesn't affect camber. Idk. Figured more people would chime in with experience on this. This site has been dead for years
Hey guys on my 84 k10 I think it's a 4" lift, anyways I replaced the upper and lower balljoints with AC delcos, and also the tie rod ends. The old ones were shot like hell. Well, now I have bad camber. Or whatever it's called when the tops of the tires stick outward. The toe is adjusted...
Guys This 84 has a small switch on the dash left of the column that you switch on and off for wipers. 2 speed. No delay. Well lately its been giving me hell. So I figured it was the motor. New one is 99 bucks so I got a good looking one from a suburban at the junkyard today. Well It doesn't work...
