Contemplating exhaust situation:
Speed engineering shortys are out of stock everywhere I’ve looked. Restock date 4/30. $160
Speed engineering long tube c10 swap headers supposedly fit K series trucks. $250ish
Stock camaro manifolds also supposedly fit without issues (I thought someone on...
Negative ghostrider. Plenty of room to run the exhaust over the top of the crossmember. It’s 2” tubing so there’s a ton of room above it
But, I am getting different headers anyways. My dad talked me out of hacking up my camaro headers and getting some speed engineering swap headers.
Camaro...
Well it was a very productive weekend. Got the tranny crossmember all fabbed up painted and installed, and also got a bunch of wiring cleaned up and the headlights and fog lights wires thanks to my dad.
I’m very thankful I don’t have to make a living as a welder, I’d be broke
Next big...
I don’t have any clearance issues with the ears on the trans, surprisingly that’s about the only thing that clears fine lol

For a helpful fellow member, I’d take whatever it’s costs to ship it.
It has the lower hose that goes to the radiator, but that’s it. It also doesn’t have a cap. I can take some more pics if you wnat

Ok so definitely necessary. Thanks man! I already need to go back to the pick and pull to get a different cruise control module so I’m thinking that since I already have the adapter and new sending unit for my stock gauge I’ll snag a regular two wire sender and pigtail from a wreck.
I never...
Does anyone know if the computer “needs” to know the coolant temp? I initially bought an adapter from ICT billet to run a stock gen1 chevy sending unit but when I started the truck I got a CEL from no coolant temp signal.
If nothing else, does anyone know how I could fool the computer so I...
Friggin eureka. I actually had taken the test light to the connector on that wire but it must’ve been too corroded to get a light off it. Cut that baby off and boom. Thanks man!

Almost done with my swap and have a bunch of extra parts. Most are dirty but I believe all are good. All prices negotiable and willing to trade for stuff too

FWIW post #24 on this thread - rpcraft is using speed engineering headers on his swap and they look like they fit on his 4x4 really nicely. I knew I saw a picture somewhere before just forgot it was on my own thread lol
Yeah going from a 700r4 should be pretty slick, lucky! I bet the length of...
I thought that’s what I had it hooked to but it was going dead on crank so it wasn’t starting. Can’t remember the color for sure thoigh

Biggin,
What wire are you using to turn on your standalone fuse/relay block? I need to find a wire that is hot in key on position and start, but I can’t seem to find one in the bulkhead connector.

Arts and crafts was never my strong suit lol
Not all the primaries on the passenger side hit, I want to say it was just the one closest to the cab but I can’t remember. I’ll snap a pic tonight. I hadn’t heard that about the speed engineering headers - that’s a bummer because they’re damn near...
I can’t, because I actually haven’t done it yet. All I’m going to do is chop the ends off after the collector (about 8” or so of 2.5” pipe after the collector), weld in an O2 bung to the collector area, and then fab some 2.5” exhaust pipe the does a bit of an S shape (not really an S but it...
Started fitting my JK fog lights. Definitely didn’t think cutting a 4” diameter hole in 1/2” plate would work that good. Bumper is definitely overkill and was definitely made in shop class or something but I like it. Makes for a damn good step to get into the engine bay

Interesting. Yep the cutout was to clear the driveshaft on the setup my truck came with (208/465). Even with the cutout there was only about 1/8” clearance for the front shaft

I think the key is to do a TON of research, and get a engine/tranny with all accessories from a running rig. That’s been the biggest money suck for me is that I got a $500 engine/tranny which turned out to be worse than dog poo and both had to be rebuilt ($1800 tranny and $2000ish engine because...
Lol - similar story with me on the budget... started with a $1k truck and $500 motor/trans and now I “think” I’m about $6k deep. Don’t want to add stuff up to know for sure. I did get a new welder out of the deal though so that was nice and a few new tools like you say.
I have an unknown type...
For some reason that name is super familiar. He has some nice stuff. Looks like he doesn’t do 4x4 crossmembers though and I already bought steel to fab one. Pretty happy with how I’ve got my pcm and relay/fuse box mounted too, at least happy enough not to buy someone else’s mounts lol
Trying...
