Dakota digital passthrough speed sensor on the speedo cable at the transfer case. It has a 4K PPM signal if I remember right. Apparently you can have your pcm flashed for 4K p but I already had my pcm flashed so I also used a Dakota converter box doodad (sgi-5 I think) to bump it up to 128k PPM...- smurfasaur

1979 K20 LS SWAP
Truck is a 1979 K20 with a freshly rebuilt LM7 5.3 (LS swap) and fresh 4l60e with a 1 year warranty. Motor is a stock rebuild besides a late LS1 cam, long tube headers, performance tune and cold air intake. When I first put it up for sale it was only a possibility that I would have to sell it, so I was more just seeing if there was any interest in it, but now it’s a sure thing that she needs to be re-homed. what is the easiest way to swap an LS motor into a K10?
That’s a good idea!! If I ever tear down again I’ll probably try that. I went back and forth about the neutral safety switch because my 60e didn’t come with one but I went with just using the column safety as well. Still not sure if my reverse lights will work but I’ll figure that out later...- smurfasaur

That’s a really good deal if it’s a good running engine. If you can hear it run or at least to a thorough inspection (and I mean thorough: if you have to rebuild an LS it gets expensive real quick), I would snatch that up before someone else does. As others have said, stock ECM can be used as long as you’re sticking with the stock fuel injection. Go backwards to a carburetor or aftermarket FI and you’ll need an aftermarket controller. Tons of people do mail- order tuning if you’re not near a local tuner. I had BlackBear performance do a tune for my 5.3 since I did a cam swap and headers, etc. Harness isn’t scary at all. Only 2-3 sensors use the same plug if I remember right so it’s pretty foolproof if you buy a premade...- smurfasaur

I haven’t used either personally, but I go back and forth between raptor liner and monstaliner. I think I the end I’m going to get some monstaliner for my bed, bumper, and rockers. Nice!! I agree for $269 shipped they’re a steal. Sold my old camaro headers for $110 on Fleabay and shipping was $80... The difference between the 2010 camaro headers and the speed engineering ones was astounding to me. Literally took me 30 minutes to install the Speed Engineering Long tubes...- smurfasaur

IMHO it’s not worth it to drop a brand new motor in these old trucks when you can get an excellent running pullout motor for so cheap... But it all depends on what your goals for the truck are. The Gen3 and up engines are amazing and most don’t break a sweat running 300k miles even if you beat...- smurfasaur

I rebuilt an LM7 a couple months ago for my K20 and damn, even doing it yourself it’s expensive. I had a shop clean and bore the block, remanufactured heads, LQ9 Cam, and stock rebuild kit and I believe it was right around $2k for everything (need to go back and add everything up to be sure, but...- smurfasaur

Yep for the $160 shorties with the Vband and clockable O2 sensor location they’re hard to beat. Would’ve gone with those if they weren’t out of stock but for $100 more I got Long tubes quick and they should give some good torque gains down low which shouldn’t suck. Somewhere I read that on LS engines the long tubes are actually the only headers that will net you any significant gains over stock manifolds, but I can’t find the article now... Speed engineering long tubes for SO much better it’s ridiculous. I can’t believe I spent so much time trying to get the camaro ones to fit. Side by side Got them mounted last night and there is tons of room everywhere and the O2 sensors are exactly where they need to be. Definitely recommend...- smurfasaur
