Used to be in a 81 Jimmy that was customized farm style for a feed/hay truck. Was never ran more than 25mph for several years. Ran 10-15mph tops most days. Also the person who put it in the Jimmy originally didn’t put gaskets on manifolds either so there’s that. The manifold that was on the...
I’m unemployed and don’t have income so working on very minimum budget. It’s the only vehicle I have right now because the trans literally blew up in the car I had and it was gonna cost way more than the car was worth to fix it so I sold it. Just trying to get something going for now.
See my grandpa said that it was fouling out plugs a lot but he also said that they were gas fouled and not oil fouled but I have a hard time believing that because of all the oil everywhere. It’s all over the entire engine.
So the 350 I have to put in my truck is using oil. When I removed the manifolds to put a different set on it, the bolts all had oil on them and oil was coming out of a couple of holes as well as inside the exhaust holes being dirty as can be except one or two. It’s probably leaking in one or...
I had to remove it so my torque converter will work properly. It had a 4 speed behind it in the jimmy that it was in. I’m putting it in an automatic truck so it had to be removed.
What size bolt do y’all use for this? Or what kind of tool other than a socket or the actual puller. I don’t have a puller so have to do it the poor boy way
The trans and torque converter have always been together so I know they match up. How would the flex plate not line up with the torque converter? Also I’ve been looking at flexplates on autozone and Oreilly websites and there’s a minor difference in them. One says 14 1/8” diameter and the other...
I have all the lines, converter, and all that. I took this engine out of one vehicle and going to switch parts and put it in my truck that has always had an automatic transmission in it.
Okay these are the pictures of the flywheel that was on the engine. Googled it it’s a 168 tooth flywheel. What else do I need to know when buying the new one?
Also I was curious on what everyone thought about oil filters cause I’ve heard very different options over the years. For several years I’ve been stuck in a Ford and always used motorcraft filters. I’m debating between the AC DELCO and the K&N High Performance filter.
Not sure on the flywheel specs. The vehicle it was in had a granny 4 speed in it and I’m putting a built 700r4 behind it in my truck. As far as manifolds, I’m putting a set on off a 90’s model throttle body because my grandpa had that engine in it before and the exhaust is still setup for that...
Needs new distributor cap, new flywheel, manifold gaskets, plugs, wires, oil change with filter, possibly rear main seal, etc. It honestly needs a total rebuild but can’t afford that.
Okay so was it in a 1975 full size or was it in a 1974 full size? I have to know exactly what it was in to buy the correct parts for it. Someone said it was in a 75 truck and others have said 74 car with the t400 behind it. That’s why I’m getting confused because different people are saying...
Okay so why is that every site I’ve been on, the CMJ code says 1974 full size with the t400 police transmission? I’d like to have all the information/charts to be able to learn all of this. I can’t make any sense at all of the info on nastyz28 or the other site I found. There’s one site that has...
In this thread is the picture of the stamped numbers on mine in this spot. I know what part of it is but cannot figure out how to decode the number to the left to narrow it down as to what it came out of originally. Please help if you can
Okay so I’ve tried to decode this thing and since I can’t find anything online, what year was this block built? I was able to find out it was built in Flint but that’s about it. It has factory 2bbl and smog crap so I’m guessing it’s an 83 model but I don’t know everything.
