    6.7 Cummins Suburban Build

Some additional context on engine mount choices: Originally I was considering going with one of the kits available such as Rob Bonney Fabrication. This choice would have meant going with the 12v style engine mounts. I also considered the chevy mount adapters, but quickly dismissed that idea...

    6.7 Cummins Suburban Build

Back at it: Getting ready to install the new engine. I am back from my summer travels, and I'm starting up work on the project again. I am almost ready to install the engine into the frame. For this part of the project I moved the truck from my house to a buddy's shop....for lots of reasons...

    85 crew Chummins project thread

What did you do for your radiator and ac condenser? I am doing a similar build (6.7 in an 84 Suburban) and I'd love to know what you went with and any challenges you ran into.

    6.7 Cummins Suburban Build

Relocating the turbo The turbo on the 6.7 ISB sits a lot further back and a lot lower than on earlier Cummins. in the stock position it would have interfered with the frame, and been so far back that there would be no room for exhaust without butchering the firewall. I considered switching to...

    6.7 Cummins Suburban Build

Teardown and prep I removed the front clip from the frame, pulled the old engine, transmission and transfer case. I spent the best part of a day cleaning 30 years of old oil and grime off the frame. Removed the engine mounts and cut the rivets and removed the engine cross member. I also plan...

Cummins swap transfer case technical question

Just to close the loop on this for others considering the same swap. I went with the NP241 out of an 89 dodge. I found one at a bone yard for $350. I swapped the input shaft for a 29 spline input shaft and replaced all the seals and bearings. The swap was very easy, and it lines up...

    6.7 Cummins Suburban Build

The Starting Point I've been on this board for a while and have learned a lot from the Squarebody community. Last week I started on an engine swap build for my 1984 Suburban. I am posting so that others might learn from my mistakes. The truck is an 84 Suburban K10 with the 6.2l Diesel...

Cummins swap transfer case technical question

Yes the chevy original is an NP208. Thanks for the link..... Question: I thought the clocking on the dodge transmission tail housing was different to the Chevy transmission? Wouldn't I need an adapter plate?

Cummins swap transfer case technical question

I have a 1984 Suburban with the 6.2 diesel, 6" lift and 37" tires. I love the truck, but I am planning out a swap because I've always wanted a cummins truck. Progress to date: I have a 6.7l Cummins which I had rebuilt and is now running on an engine stand. I have a G56 6 speed transmission...

Engine wont shut off and random battery drain. Help!

Thanks for the replies. I took your suggestions, tested voltage at load, and it was only 12.8. So this week I replaced the alternator and removed and cleaned all my ground connections. Sure enough this solved the problem.

Engine wont shut off and random battery drain. Help!

I am new to Chevys, and have an issue which has me stumped. I have a 84 Suburban K10 with 6.2L diesel V8. I have owned it for about 3 years, when I first bought it I had a charging problem, so I replaced the alternator and batteries. That fixed the charging issue, but now I have an electrical...
