What have you done to your square lately??

Powerwashed all the mud off of it from the summer and rubbed some linseed oil into the paint. Putting her into the barn this weekend for the winter. I will change the oil and lube it this weekend as well. The salt and material they put on the roads here would just hasten the rust and decline so...

Anyone know what these rims are from?

Thanks for the replies on these. I started to feel guilty so I put them in the barn with with various parts stashes we have. I will dig around a bit and see in anyone needs these.

Anyone know what these rims are from?

Thanks pnwnvrd! I googled Ford "wide five" rims and there they were. Too bad the guy separated them from the rim..... Iron pile fodder now. The guy Dad bought the cabin from had a couple of 30's Ford rat rods in the shed so that makes sense.

Anyone know what these rims are from?

Cleaning out my Dad's place as I had to move him to assisted living and I came across some miscellaneous parts in the timber behind the house. I found an older VW rim with a studded snow tire on it (got a buddy to give that one to) and a very nice '78-'79 Ford F150 hubcap (gave that to the FIL...

    C20 for towing

I have had very good luck with TH400s which is why I mentioned that combination. Yes, I will admit that combo is not really up to running 70mph+ all day. My "tow" vehicle is my 1993 K3500 with a 454/4L80E, 4.10 gearing. However, I rarely run over 65mph when towing. The truck will return ~13mpg...

    C20 for towing

I am probably right the right guy to chime in on this one but I would go with a 454/TH400 for the drivetrain. If you are not daily driving it the mileage counts less. Admittedly I am old school though and as I get older the "older school" I seem to get. Heck I don't even like power windows...

    1967 C20 Project

Unfortunately I had to halt work on this for likely the year. I may be able to do a bit of mechanical work but the bodywork will definitely have to wait until spring. My dad has ended up back in skilled nursing so my weekends are taken up with tending to his needs and taking care of his place...

    69 C10

Great looking truck. Based upon what I see here in Iowa yours looks pretty solid. Like most here I am just not a fan of shortbeds. Kinda hard to haul a 4' x 8' sheet of material in a shortbed with the tailgate up. Every time I work on my '67 I find more things that need attention so I feel...

    paint formula

Looks like is is to late but I have had good luck with PPG. I have had paint mixed in spray cans and for shooting through a gun for my 1967 C20. Just find a store that will mix for you. Spray cans run from $25 to $35 in my area (depending upon how many you buy, and if the guy behind the counter...

    1967 C20 Project

Slowly moving the ball forward.... Ordered some vinyl letters for the tailgate yesterday. I thought about trying to mask and spray it white but I took the easy way out.

Welcome. Enjoy the process and learning about your truck. Post up some pics of your new ride.

    1967 C20 Project

Red lead, that is a new one for me. It was actually a ton of deep scratches and chips. Initially I was trying to save the original paint but it was a losing battle. The body is pretty straight for a 55 year old work truck. Sitting at Dad's for 20 years kept it from getting banged up. Neighbor...

    1967 C20 Project

Got the left bed side painted and the cowl panel and tailgate primed and almost ready to go. Made better progress than I thought I would so far this weekend. Just might finish the bodywork before harvest and hunting season Lord willing and the creeks don't rise.

What new tools have you got lately?

So a good friend of mine was driving through a Des Moines residential neighborhood when he happened upon a guy cleaning out his Dad's garage. Guy was tossing several large tools (pipe wrenches, breaker bars, etc.), a bunch of copper pipes and fittings, and these..... We help each other out...

    1967 C20 Project

Sold the turbine rims yesterday for $250. They are going to a good home. Money will be rolled back into the C20. I hope to get the left bed side, tailgate, and cowl panel knocked out this weekend. Getting tired of sanding and glazing. There is still a lot of mechanical work to be completed and...

20 Year OBS Owner, Trying out the Squarebody

Those pictures are hard to look at. I have a '93 OBS that is actually the nicest vehicle in my fleet. The OBS moniker causes me to pause because I remember when Dad brought the '93 home. It just does not seem "old" to me (but neither do the squarebodies). I always liked them but never thought...

    1967 C20 Project

Not a lot of progress from the last update. I got the grill masked and painted white and the right bed side done. I am working on the left side now. Making small but incremental gains on this thing. Hope to get the bodywork completed before the cold weather hits. Not going for a garage queen I...

    1967 C20 Project

New lugnuts showed up yesterday so I bolted the rollers I picked up last week on the back and put the new hubcaps on it. Looks better than the old MT turbine rims. Probably will not get much done over the next week on it. Last weekend of the State Fair and some home and farm chores are overdue.

    1967 C20 Project

Thanks for all the comments. RecklessWOT to bad you are not closer. I am getting rid of those turbine rims to clear out some space. I just can't seem to channel my '80s vibe and they need to go. Truck originally had splits (that Dad tossed when he bought the truck). I picked up some good one...

    1967 C20 Project

Got the first coat of paint on the doghouse and also painted the bumper and bezels. Slowly getting it looking better. Still have to paint the rear bumper. Probably crazy spending all this time on a base 3/4-ton but it was my Dad's and we camped all over the west in her.

Scores from DIY Parts Yards, Pull A Part, U Pull It etc

Not a big haul as I mainly went to find parts for my 1967 C20. I found some needed fasteners, outside mirror, very good dash pad that is even the correct color, and a few other minor parts. I also grabbed the two hubcaps that were on the lone '67-72 truck in the lot even though they were 1/2-ton...

What have you done to your square lately??

Big weekend for the old girl. We did some tractor maintenance at the farm and she went to the county fair for the demo derby last night and the cattle show today. Got a picture of her parked next to my father-in-law's 1983 GMC 2500. He uses it as a farm truck daily. Also got a shot of it by...

    1967 C20 Project

I brought this back from Utah about 3 years ago. My Dad bought in 1987 to haul his camper. It is actually an old Forest Service truck that the guy who bought it from the government scuffed and sprayed it with an awful brown. We used it as is until Dad bought a '93 K3500 (that I have now). It sat...
