    “Barn” find 57 Chevy revival

I’ve heard good things about the small journals but apparently the large journals are just destroked 350s. Needless to say tho that once I get it running I’ll take it for a spin and see what the 327 is all about ;)

    “Barn” find 57 Chevy revival

I will say that I used the cheapo stp oil from autozone, that’s why I’d like to get a little extra insurance since that stuff is pretty bare

    “Barn” find 57 Chevy revival

Just trying to get it running smooth and safe for my aunt, figure it’ll be a good thing to learn on

    “Barn” find 57 Chevy revival

Ive started working on my late uncles old 57 bel air with a 327 and am almost done wiring it to fire it up. It looks like it’s been redone (at least repainted) so I’m not sure if the cam needs to be broken in. I put in some 10w 30 to spin it over with since it was bone dry, and some motor honey...

    Shift soft into OD

I agree about the heat, I’ve notised it a bit too, she runs a lot better in the 60s then the 110s. But unless you feel it slipping slightly as it goes into od I’d just let it ride until you let the shop road test it

    Prepping up a 700r4

I agree, the more I dig into 700r4 upgrades it seems like I either have to build it to the moon, or enjoy 5 minutes of fun

    Prepping up a 700r4

True, I guess my quiestion is noot then about cable adjustment, does anyone have any suggestions on shift kits for stock transmissions?

    Prepping up a 700r4

That’s what I did, I’ve got an eddy with the little corrector bracket

    Prepping up a 700r4

Im tempted to tighten the tv cable, but I’ve read from several sources that the tv cable is not to be adjusted to get the proper feel, and that once it is set correctly it should be left alone. Would it be safe to slightly adjust it just to help my shift points?

    Prepping up a 700r4

I recently put in a 700r4 behind my 350, and for just getting around I love it, cruising below 2 grand around town has saved my wallet. However when I want to get on it, I’m left a little disappointed. The only times it ever really kicks it up is when I can get it to downshift, which is only...

    Exhaust/valve tick

I’d be willing to bet that no matter what you do, the linkage is so worn that it’ll always tick.. That was the case with mine so I yanked it, hacked out the flapper (a death wheel made easy work of that) and welded the holes shut, but if you can’t weld you may be able to just throw a bolt or 2...

    Removing springs from a pack

I have a 78 c10 with the ”hd” suspension option. So far it’s lowered 2 inches in the rear with shackles and I like the look, although I wouldn’t mind another inch or so in the rear. My main concern is the ride quality. Up front it has all new bushings and shocks all the way around but those damn...

    Little yellow wire

Mine had the EXACT same thing, I think it’s the factory lead to the HOOD LAMP. It was an extra option added into the harness to some trucks, which is why I think they used an external fuse

    Rear sliding glass

If you have full exhaust you’re good on fumes, plus it’s always good to have a spare entrance for when you lock you keys in or your doors break(and yes, I’ve had both outer door handles break on me)

    Amp settings and speaker placement

I dig it! If it weren't for the fact that my truck was a beater before I got it, I'd have done the same, but I went ahead and just drilled holes in it. I like how you guys do 6x9s in the back and lower doors. Next time I work on the interior I'll probably go that route too

    Amp settings and speaker placement

If I ever get new door panels, il probably go that route since ive got the 6x9 holes in the lower doors. I like what you say about the sound stage, it makes sense and makes me feel better about hacking the dash. How do the speakers behind the seat work?

    Speedo issues... replaced parts

I'd your haven't already, use an online speedo gear calculator. It'll let you rule out incorrect plastic gearing for speedo inaccuracy

AC compressor does line up; new compressor

Id say no, because the ac pulley is actually built into the clutch, It would be more work reworking that (if its even possible) than to just get fancy with washers and cuss into the engine bay for a few hours

    Another annoying AC Question

I know I won't be saying anything new, but for what its worth I was in the exact same situation with my 78. I ended up just going to junk yards and grabbing brackets for the r4 compressor from a slightly later truck, 81 I think but don't quote me. After some paint they were good as new, truck...
