I can today. Yeah I agree. I almost didnt wax it and was going to let it oxidate over again. If I had a smaller buffer I would have got better results. I have a couple rare cars I want to buff and basically learned on this one. It was trash.

You can actually polish a turd. Went ahead and hit it again and waxed it. All in good practice. I definitely would suggest a smaller buffer than the 7 inch nice one I got. Even a 3 inch would have worked better. I’ll do some hand work outside in better light. Anyway this will hold me over...

Front end swap - 81 GMC

Dual headlights but with this grill without the chevy emblem. Pretty good look. Pics off google

Front end swap - 81 GMC

They had the best looking dual headlight (not quad) setup from the 80’s. Especially with the right gray tinted LED headlight installed. In my opinion.

I would and was hoping that but that gray is just primer. The paint is burned through from the sun. Too bad the previous owner never waxed it.

It was more a stress reliever thing on a Sunday to get my mind off work. I’ll just hit it with #7 again since I have it. I seriously am thinking about getting some rattle cans mixed to match and hitting the roof, hood, and top of the front fenders.

So I went as about as aggressive as possible on this thin paint. I wouldn't be scared to wet sand with 1500 or 2000 grit. The only things I wish I would have done was research pinstripe removal, not got impatient and burned through one spot, tapped off the hard edge at the upper body line...

Got some good results. Amazed at how much dead paint came off this thing. Need to do some touching up this week and soak it in glaze before waxing it. Good enough results where i regret breaking through now.

Done with the 2000. Now gonna get a wool pad for my buffer. And some beer.

Yeah this paint is pretty much trash I can still see the streaks with 1000 grit, but barely. Gonna 2000 grit it now and see.

1000 grit down the drivers side. Got about 80-90% of the water streaks out. On a side note the truck is surprisingly straight with just one door ding and one small ding in the bed. Must have not been a Walmart shopper.

Yeah the tires are not too bad on price and practically true to size unlike the rest. 50lbs per tire isnt too too bad. This old 350 isn't gonna like to spin much more.

The pinstripe is here to stay for now. Started wet sanding with 1000 and the pinstripe seems to not mind. Gonna do that then 2000 then buff with 105 again maybe with a wool pad if I can find one.

This is 2000 grit wet sand and Meguiar #105 at 2300 rpms white foam pad. I broke through, I was 7 beers in and someone was bothering me. This is just 3 applications of Meguiars #7 Only nice thing on this truck is the bed. Another angle of front fender, think I need something more coarse...

So the paint on my 87 is done for, its an older but good quality repaint as the truck was probably a factory peeler. I am going to get it presentable so I can drive it a few months and get all the mechanicals 100% and make sure it has no major issues that would superseded a paint job budget...

Plastic rock guard in front of rear tire. Available?

Yeah we did that on the last car I painted.

Need an idea of a fair price

October 1994, 1984, or 1974 build date on the one tire I could see it. I’d tell him $50 a tire and $25 per rim. Take the money and run.

Plastic rock guard in front of rear tire. Available?

It wont be driven in the rain much. Its just a practice restoration project

Plastic rock guard in front of rear tire. Available?

My 87 in that area is beat to shit with rock damage. The chrome ones would look cool. That was going to be my backup plan.

Plastic rock guard in front of rear tire. Available?

Thanks. I am going to email Xpel. See if they will make one. I have nothing to trace and frankly dont want to spend the time on it.
