    Fan shroud question

Does anyone know if the fan shrouds for 81-87 c/k trucks are different depending on whether or not you have a/c? I found this: http://www.dynacorn.com/ShowItem.aspx?item=1119YA It says it is for trucks w/o a/c but I’ve never seen one for sale that says it’s for an a/c truck. My k10 has a 350 and...

    Heater core

Thanks guys - because of this forum I got my truck’s heat working again I got the heater core hose to the right spot on the manifold, then got the right manifold fitting so the heater hose and gas line no longer touch Really glad to have the wealth of info available here!

    Heater core

So I got the heat working Thanks for the help - it was just a matter of getting the hose in the right place But a couple things As you can see from the pictures, the heater core hose that goes to the intake is jammed right up next to the gas line Is there something I can do to change that - like...

    Heater core

What sealant do you recommend for these plugs? They’ve got a gray sealant but I don’t know what that is. I plan to do the work this weekend.

    Heater core

I want to make sure I’ve got this right - 1. Disconnect hose from water pump and plug that hole on water pump 2. Connect that hose to manifold as in picture

    Heater core

So what goes on the water pump where the hose is currently? And what do I do with the hose currently on the manifold next to to the thermostat/big hose?

    Heater core

The thermostat works The engine temp does fluctuate a good bit, assuming the gauge is accurate Sometimes it’ll briefly go above 210 but then come back to probably 190, maybe slightly lower

    Heater core

I checked the hoses this morning - larger top hose runs to radiator The smaller hose goes to the water pump (pictured) Are these the correct locations - the hose sizes fit, so I figured it had to be

    Heater core

My truck has never had working heat (it does have working a/c) The previous owner said the heater core was probably the issue I just got around to changing the heater core But I still don’t have heat The air blows somewhat warm but never really gets hot If I let the engine get up to running...

    Radiator fan shroud

I have been looking for an exact replacement for my truck’s radiator fan shroud, but have not been able to find one. I doubt the radiator is oem so the shroud might not be either but I don’t see any brand name on it anywhere. I need to replace it because it cracked and top and bottom halves...

    Bench seat with head rests

Does anybody make a replacement bench seat with headrests? I’ve seen some nicely restored squares with bench + headrests but I don’t know if they were custom made. I’m not looking to spend a fortune. I have not seen this at LMC. Thanks

    Heat

How do I get an air pocket out of coolant system? The temp gauge does fluctuate a good bit.

    Heat

Ok thanks - good info! I’ll be working on it this weekend and see how it goes!

    Heat

Temp gauge indicates the thermostat is working I will check the hoses - but it seems like if I had blockage, I’d have a leak somewhere right?

    Heat

My 85 has a/c which works fine. The heater will blow warm air for a few minutes, then it gets cool. There is no sign of a heater core leak. What this could this be? Since I get hot air for a few minutes, I assume the blend door is working. Could I have a problem with a vacuum line? I have never...

    Hub removal

That sounds right. I did not go behind any seal to get grease out. All the grease would have been on the back of the locking hub when it slides in. The Warn hub itself already has grease in it, but the instructions did not say anything about grease behind the hub (eg, adding grease to the shaft...

    Hub removal

I don’t know. Good question. The grease I got out was behind where the Warn hub would slide in. I’m sure there’s a little grease still there but there was a lot before I cleaned it out - I figured it might so packed in, the hub wouldn’t work. But I’m learning as I go.

    Hub removal

I never put any grease in it. I’ve only had the truck a couple years. Had to be a previous owner. Maybe it didn’t matter much with the previous hubs - I don’t know what brand they were. But when I took the Warn hub out to see what might be the problem and what was keeping it from turning, I...

    Hub removal

Finally got everything working right. I took the hub that would not turn off the truck, and I noticed there was a whole lot of grease in there. Based on what I’ve read on this form, I cleaned all that old grease out. Put the hub back in and now it works perfectly. I guess that was the issue...

    Hub removal

Finally got the old hub off. The problem was the axle hub (? - I’m not sure the part name) that the locking hub needed to slide out of was slightly out of round. I did some grinding and got it out. But now I have another problem. I put in the new Warn hubs. On the passenger side it works great...

    Hub removal

Yes, wheel is jacked up. Spins freely in both directions. The hub still won’t come out. Other suggestions?

    Hub removal

I’m trading out my old manual locking hubs for some new Warn hubs. Passenger side came out easy. Got the new one in. But the driver side seems to be stuck. I got the retaining ring and lock ring off. But it still won’t come out. It seems like inner most spline is stuck. I hit it with some liquid...

    Np203 leaking

Thanks. Definitely a converted 203. Recently changed oil with 10w30. The guy I bought the truck from thought it was a 205 which means he probably had the wrong oil in it. That may have been the start of the problem. On the other hand, it’s been around since 1977 so maybe it’s just time....

    Np203 leaking

I’ve got an np203 mated to a th350. The transfer case is leaking a good bit from the front. Last time I had it in 4hi, it had a hard time getting back into 2hi. I’m a novice with these t-cases. What do I need to do? Look at a rebuild? Can I troubleshoot it? What kind of $$ am I looking at...

    Turn signal question

Left turn signal stopped flashing last night. Figured it had to be the relay after that - and it was. Stopped by the auto parts store for a new relay today and that did the trick. Everything is good now. Thanks!
