    I recently rebuilt the 454 in my 79 K-10. It is a .060” over 1973 block with a steel crank. Hyper-eutectic Speed-Pro pistons on 502 BBC rods. Compression is 9.7:1.     I installed the interior door panel kit from USA-1. In keeping with the factory look, they have done a remarkable job. I needed a custom color, and it is spot on. During covid season last year, it took 6 months to receive the kit, but worth the wait.

    Ditto what Itali83 said. I have broke in many cams just the same way. High zinc content oil, or break-in additive, and high idle immediately upon fire up.

    Great question. Between the panels, I rolled small tubes made of masking tape, sticky side out. Grooves around the gauges, I used heavy cotton string, then masked over the hole. All the raised edges I painted by hand with a car painters touch up brush that has a small fuzzy ball on the tip.

    Yep, the trick is to use matte finish lacquer aerosol. Lacquer sticks super well to plastic. It took me about 4 hours to meticulously mask it off. Color and sheen look just like my original dash. Rust-Oleum Stops Rust 11 oz. Metallic Matte Nickel Protective Spray Paint-7277830 - The Home Depot

    I have been looking for years on ebay for a good correct dash bezel for my 79 K-10. I finally found one, and painted it with the correct silver inlay area. Came out better than I hoped.
