I might be wrong, but I’ve never seen a square hole washer. I’m assuming you’re working with a carriage bolt? The square portion underneath the head of a carriage bolt has rounded corners- I imagine that if you got one with a close enough size that the corners of the square would just push... -

Confirmed, is 5/8 fine thread. I just cut a notch in the nut, cleaned up the threads, and spun it on.- ChuckN

I got out the nuts I bought for the brake lines, cut a window into both the 9/16 and 5/8 and confirmed it was indeed a fine thread 5/8. I cut it as clean as I could with a hacksaw, then cleaned up the threads with an old shock mount stud that uses the same thread pitch as cleanup for the... -

Ran out of time to get to the brake line nut today, but got the new header gasket in and it’s quiet again, and I supplemented with a little copper gasket maker. I don’t blame the gasket, I think the headers have a very thin flange and are probably cheapies. That’ll get remedied when I go to... -

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. It’s pretty deteriorated, might have to get a brake hose from a store, take it down to the local Hardware Sales (they have a few aisles of nuts and bolt- it’s pretty awesome actually) then return the hose after I’m done. Anyone know where to buy one? One of mine gave way and is shot. They didn’t include them when I purchased the new hoses. Hell, even if I could get some kind of a clip, I imagine that might suffice as it’s not a high stress item. Another thread referred to them as a 15/16”, someone must sell...- ChuckN

Today’s I took the truck for a ride and delivered Christmas presents to the post office, refueled downtown with some ethanol free gas, and cruised by the waterfront on the way back home. I heard an exhaust leak, so I tightened up the header and collector bolts- looks like I need to replace one... -

10W-40 for Chevy 350
My 350 is an almost new rebuild (~1000 miles). I started with 10w-40 with Lucas ZDDP additive during break in and since have gone to Valvoline 20w50 VR1 for the flat tappets for warm weather. The other day it was 30-40 degrees- it cranked a tiny bit slower, but otherwise I don’t see a downside...- ChuckN

KYB Excel G front shocks for C10
Have a couple that I put on and then took back off because I wanted something a little stiffer. Free to a good home. Only downside is they wouldn’t fit in the control arm so I had to shave down the metal bushing to fit inside. If your fitment is different, could supplement with some washers... -

That’s pretty cool. My older cousin bought an ‘87 when he graduated from GMI and went to work engineering at GM. T-tops off and listening to Def Leppard with him just before I had my license. Those were the good old days. His was a metallic blue, but wasn’t as cool because it had the 305 auto.- ChuckN

TBH, I’ve been quietly keeping my eyes open for something like that. Mainly, because as much top-end work I’ve done on engines over the years, I’ve never gotten into the bottom end, because I’ve never had to. The marketplace and Craigslist are full of well worn big blocks for relatively cheap...- ChuckN
