What have you done to your square lately??

I removed the "1500" logos on the doors. And started cleaning up the white corrosion coming thru the paint on the rear floor.

    Engine problem

I'd start with a full tune up before I messed with the carb. You need to know where you are starting from.

    Which manual transmission?

I'm looking at the TR-4050 for about the same application. Not cheap but they are still building them and they can handle the torque of a 6.2.

    Oil Pressure Goes to Zero!

The gauges have not failed again since the wire wiggling. The engine only has about 130K on it but I do run Lucas and 15-40 Rotella in it already. I think is was a loose wire.

    Oil Pressure Goes to Zero!

There is no mechanical interference on the wire. Picture looks like they touch but they are far apart. Interesting......today I pulled the dash and wiggled all the wires, moved the tach wire away from the rest, reseated a few wires and the problem for now has gone. I reinstalled the dash and...

    Oil Pressure Goes to Zero!

That means I have to buy a new gauge. I have another electrical gauge that I could try which I can connect directly to the battery and remove a wiring issue. I will start there.

    Oil Pressure Goes to Zero!

All other gauges work fine, no changes.

    Oil Pressure Goes to Zero!

Would that fail only when the engine is warm and its revved up in REVERSE with the brake on? Wouldn't it fail all the time it was warm and revved up....FORWARD or REVERSE or NEUTRAL.....? I think I can test it via resistance sending unit to ground and it should fail if that's what it is but I...

    Oil Pressure Goes to Zero!

The rats used to chew up everything but we have two cats that keep them away now. I have not seen a mouse or rat for several years.

    Oil Pressure Goes to Zero!

Yes, gauge is electric. Caveat of the broken or shorted wire is that they are all new, have been inspected and look good. No evidence of mice or rats. Not near the exhaust as it is several inches away at the filter and in convoluted tubing. There is also the issue that it only does this when...

    Oil Pressure Goes to Zero!

Would that be on a 350 engine? I'll go look for it.

    Oil Pressure Goes to Zero!

Italia83.....Yes brand new....several months old Speed Hut gauges. No chaffing wires in convoluted tubing and thru grommet in firewall. I agree it does not make sense that it can drop pressure instantly and only when in reverse with a load on it....brakes or trailer. Engine is running fine...

    Oil Pressure Goes to Zero!

1991 Suburban V1500, 350 TBI, 700R4, Speed Hut gauge upgrade. Oil pressure sender installed in the port just above the oil filter mount. Vehicle is nearly a daily driver and runs fine. Just lately..in the last few days, I pulled a trailer with a tractor on it.....about 6000# total. When I...

Speed Hut Speedometer Install....no signal error!

Probably so. The schematic showed my VSS output on C15 but in reality it was on C14. I suspect the difference in My 91 Suburban V1500 vs a 1985 pickup.

Speed Hut Speedometer Install....no signal error!

I also figured out the speedo connection. I had to install a resistor between 12vdc and the speedo signal form the DRAC. Apparently it is called a "pull up" resistor and is needed but lost when I pulled the old cluster. I put in a 4.7K ohm resistor vs the 10K in this picture and it let me set...

In search of opinions on gear change.

I'm now running 34" ties on my 91 Suburban.....5.7 TBI, 700R4 trans and 3.42 gears. It is a bit sluggish on starts but cruses on the highway at 65-70 at 2200 rpm. I need to be pulling a trailer some so was thinking the 4.10 would be the way to go also. The tires are a bit tight in the fenders.

Thanks for the input on the Oil Pressure. I found it and installed it and it looks like it works fine. Yea!

Tire time need thoughts on slight size change

Back to the tire size issue. The factory tires on my 88 Burb were 235/75/SR15 and looked way too small for the fender. And I've been running 33 X 10.5 R15 for a few years now with no issues at all. They look a lot better in the wheel well also. Both pictures are of worn out tires so new...

Tire time need thoughts on slight size change

Thanks, Thats kinda what I have been thinking but I really didn't want to install a lift at all. I like the ride height now and don't do any off road stuff. Just don't like to get stuck in snow, mud, wet grass.

Tire time need thoughts on slight size change

Just put on a set of NITTO Terra Grappler LT285/75R17 and they are a tad tall for the rear of the front fenders...: ( But I still like them. The brakes are Hummer with 4 puck calipers which required larger wheels from factory. I'm still thinking on what I am going to do with the...

what do you guys think of a Short Burb

I'm wanting to shorten the frame and hood but not the interior for max room so I can camp out of the Suburban. Something like this. I've posted it on here before but no one liked it at all! Lots of work getting the front tires and grill in place. I'm thinking VW Syncro van on a budget with...

Speed Hut Speedometer Install....no signal error!

Hey Folks, I just installed a set of Speed Hut gauges in my 1991 V1500 Suburban, 5.7 TBI, electrical speedo, 700R4, 241. I have two (2) problems. Problem #1: I connected the input into the new speedo to the old pin 18 from the dash cluster plug....light blue/black stripe. I have tried both...
